I loved my time coworking in Ho Chi Minh. There’s an abundant digital nomad culture and a significant ex-pat scene. I found it to be an ideal location for remote workers and took full advantage of the many cool coworking spots in the city. It’s always great to get a change of scenery and if there’s free coffee on tap, even better!

Let’s explore the 10 best coworking spaces in Ho Chi Minh.

1. GEEK Hub (D1)

One of the biggest benefits of being a digital nomad in Ho Chi Minh is the cost of coworking spaces. They’re significantly lower than in lots of other countries I’ve worked from. GEEK Hub is a fine example of a coworking space that doesn’t break the bank and offers everything you could need for a productive day.

I visited here a few times because there weren’t any monthly fees or a significant commitment required. You can buy a 4-hour package and be up and running straight away. It’s a bright, comfortable, and convenient coworking space.

Ideally located in the heart of D1, GEEK Hub also has a second very similar base in the Phu Nhuan District, west of the city. They have fully equipped meeting rooms to accommodate up to 12 people and event facilities for up to 70 people.

• 4-Hour Cut Off: If you’re hot desking on the 4-hour package you’ll be cut off at 4 hours. You can immediately renew but this can be annoying if you’re on a roll with something or in the middle of a Zoom call.
• No Parking: There aren’t any facilities on site for parking bikes or cars. Customers will need to find their own parking facilities.

• Noise: During busy times it can get quite loud in the D1 coworking space. Day pass members are situated in somewhat of a communal area/walkway.
• Limited Facilities: Day pass members will need to pay extra to buy credits for meeting rooms and printer usage.
• No Cafe: There isn’t an onsite cafe onsite at any of The Hive’s 3 HCMC branches. Free ‘make your own’ coffee is available to everyone though.

5. Highlands Coffee @ Landmark 81 (Binh Thanh)

I’m going to throw a wildcard in at number 5 and suggest a Highlands Coffee location as one of the best free coworking spaces in Ho Chi Minh. Highlands Coffee is the biggest chain of coffee stores in Vietnam and the location at Landmark 81 is such a great spot to work from.

Landmark 81 is the 2nd tallest building in Southeast Asia, (18th in the world) and although the coffee shop is on the ground floor, it’s still very cool to be working from such an iconic structure.

Highlands Coffee consistently has reliable, free WiFi, quality coffee, and plenty of spaces to situate for a spot of work. After you’ve completed your tasks for the day, I recommend a trip to the Blank Lounge on the 76th floor.

• Free WiFi: Efficient and reliable WiFi is available to all customers.
• Food Options: Highlands Coffee offers a selection of excellent sandwiches, cakes, and snack choices.
• Power Sockets: If you’re rocking a super old laptop like me, power sockets are available close to many tables.

Pros of Highlands Coffee

• Availability: Although I favored the Landmark 81 location, Highlands stores are all over HCMC.
• Free Working Space: Okay, so you should probably buy a coffee, but for around $1 it’s as good as free.
• Great Coffee Options: Highlands is a big chain akin to Starbucks so if you drink specialty coffee or concoctions of your own creation they’ll be able to make it for you.

Cons of Highlands Coffee

• Limited Facilities: As it’s a coffee shop and not an official coworking space there aren’t any printers, scanners, or private meeting rooms.
• Busy Environment: Highlands is a popular coffee shop that at times can become very busy. Don’t bank on it being quiet.
• Unable to Reserve Tables: Although I’ve seen the occasional reserved sign on a Highlands table, it’s generally for larger groups.
• Limited WiFi: I never had issues with basic emails and such. But, for larger projects or those needing a secure network, a public coffee shop’s internet is probably best avoided.

6. Work Not Work (Binh Thanh)

I’m all about the work/life balance; it’s a big part of why I choose to be a digital nomad. Work Not Work is an excellent option for anyone else with this same frame of mind. It’s a modern and cool place that has a strong emphasis on art and culture which is designed to inspire a healthy working environment.

I loved their open-air rooftop terrace with fantastic graffiti-laden walls. There’s also an excellent canteen that serves a whole range of food and beverage options.

Day passes are available, and there are some great deals on weekly hot-desking. Additionally, Work Not Work provides several excellent, practical, and handy services.

Pros of Work Not Work

• Rooftop Terrace: The views of the Saigon skyline from the roof are excellent and all guests can work from there.
• Cheap Day Rate: The prices are competitive if you need a one-day working option. It’s even cheaper if you book the entire week.
• Great Location: Located in the Bhanh Thanh area of HCMC, this coworking space is right in the heart of the city’s business district.
• Good Food: The onsite cafe doesn’t serve just the standard burger and fries. Healthy food options are readily available.

Cons of Work Not Work

• No Free Coffee: Making your own free coffee is not always possible despite evidence suggesting otherwise on their website. Food and drinks can be purchased from the cafe, however.
• Space: Work Not Work is not the biggest coworking environment and spaces can be limited during busy periods. A lot of the areas advertised are for monthly renters.
• No Extras Included: Printing and meeting room credits aren’t included with hot desking customers. These need to be pre-agreed and pre-paid for.

7. XÓM (D1)

Perhaps the most popular coworking space in Ho Chi Minh City is XÓM. It’s a cool and friendly coworking facility that embodies the spirit of the digital nomad culture.

XÓM offers a full range of amenities and is welcoming of single-day users. The rates are pretty reasonable for the level of service and comfort that’s offered. There are also discounts available by paying weekly and monthly.

What’s most unique about XÓM as a coworking space is the cocktail bar. It’s not free; you will need to pay for drinks, but you can get a sense of the vibe by the bar’s neon signs – one says ‘Stop Thinking, Start Drinking’. It’s my kind of place!

• Excellent WiFi: Connections so fast that XÓM’s website describes it as ‘super duper’.
• Meeting Rooms: Fully equipped meeting rooms are available to book for up to 15 people.
• Event Space: An excellent space with enough room to host 60 people. There’s plenty of parking for everyone too.

Pros of XÓM

• Discounts: Paying weekly or monthly for hot desking will save money. All members get discounts on XÓM’s in-house food and beverages.
• Free Stuff: Free coffee and a regular supply of fresh water is available to all users.
• Parking: XÓM has a huge parking lot, so there’s no stress for anyone if you plan a meeting or event.
• Clean: The cleaners seem to be constantly at work. It’s one of the best-maintained coworking spaces I’ve visited.

Cons of XÓM

• Price: It’s not the cheapest coworking space in HCMC, but paying weekly will bring the price down.
• Additional Costs: Meeting rooms, printing facilities, and the event space aren’t included with hot desking memberships.

8. Designers Hub Coworking (D7)

Designer Hub Coworking, nestled in Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling D7 region, caters exclusively to minds in architectural and art design. Located within the dynamic C Space Building, a hub for construction, Designer Hub is purposefully designed and integrated with utilities tailored for design, architectural, and art projects.

If you’re in the architectural sector, this is the best coworking spot in Ho Chi Minh for you. But, with day rates available for digital nomads from any walk of life, it’s a great space to get work done, no matter your niche.

9. WorkFlow (D2)

It’s not the most famous coworking space in Ho Chi Minh but WorkFlow is certainly one of the most convenient. It’s the only place I’ve come across in HCMC that has an app where individual work pods can be booked by the hour. You can even order your coffee from the app so it’s ready for when you arrive!

WorkFlow is based in D2, so it’s outside of the main city center. Xuan Thuy is close by which is a street full of great bars and restaurants.

• Privacy: Enjoy the peace and quiet of your own soundproofed and lockable work pod.
• High-Speed Internet: Work away to your heart’s content without WiFi issues.

Pros of WorkFlow

• Ease: Book work pods from an app. Secure your spot, pay, and even order your coffee remotely.
• Flexibility: Secure pods by the hour, add more time if you need and never pay for more than you use.
• Location: WorkFlow is located outside of the city center but is very close to the excellent Xuan Thuy area in D2.

Cons of WorkFlow

• Space: The pods aren’t huge. If you like to spread out, consider a more open-plan coworking space.
• Price: Being able to book by the hour is great, but an 8-hour day will make it one of the more expensive coworking spaces in HCMC for daily members.
• No Freebies: There are discounts available for those who book pods but there aren’t any free coffee-making facilities.

10. Bibli Library Cafe (D1)

Bibli Library Café combines two of my loves; coffee and books, and it also has an excellent designated quiet area for reading and working.

The coffee and food options here are decent and fairly priced. The cafe is well maintained with a cozy decor and is airconditioned. The upstairs provides the feeling of working from a traditional library – it’s without a doubt, one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon.

The WiFi is reliable, desk spaces are free to anyone who purchases a drink, and it’s situated just a block and a half from the beautiful Saigon River.

• Good Coffee: Coffee is a big deal in Vietnam and Bibli Library Cafe serves a great selection of local and international coffees.
• Ample Spacing: There are many tables and comfy seating areas for customers to enjoy.

Pros of Bibli Library Cafe

• Low Cost: Being a cafe, you’re not required to pay for a desk space; simply grab a drink and find somewhere to base yourself.
• Free WiFi: Good and reliable WiFi is available to all customers.
• Food Options: On top of the unending supply of coffee, there are some great breakfast, brunch, and lunch options on the menu.

Cons of Bibli Library Cafe

• No Additional Facilities: As it’s a cafe, there aren’t any printing, scanning, or meeting room facilities available.
• Busy and Noisy: It’s a public cafe so there aren’t any guarantees on the volume level if you work downstairs. Upstairs is a designated quiet area, but it is not overly enforced.
• No Reservations: It’s not possible to reserve a desk.
• Limited WiFi: Although the WiFi is good, it is a public connection and as such is probably not suited to downloading/uploading large files or for anyone who requires a secure internet connection.
