10 English Muffin Breakfast Ideas • Kath Eats

I’m sharing English muffin breakfast ideas, from sweet to savory, including my signature creation with fig jam!

Check out my favorite recipe at the end of this post!

Who doesn’t love English muffins, with their nooks and crannies that were made for butter and jam!?

What makes English muffins truly unique is their versatility. They serve as a great alternative to richer options like brioche, offering a lighter yet still satisfying experience. With fewer calories and less fat, they’re delicious source of carbs that won’t weigh you down as you start your day.

But it’s not just about the nutritional perks. English muffins are quite delicious on their own (I love this Boston-based brand!). Their subtle sweetness pairs wonderfully with a variety of flavors, from savory to sweet. Whether toasted and slathered with butter and jam, or used as a base for a savory breakfast sandwich, that’s up to you and your tastebuds.

Today I’m sharing a roundup of English muffin breakfast ideas that are not only delicious but also incredibly easy to prepare. From classic combinations to creative twists, these recipes showcase the endless possibilities of this breakfast staple. Grab your toaster…!

8. Hummus & Cucumber English Muffin

9. PB&J English Muffin

I couldn’t not mention this classic! And favorite for the kids, too. Spread an English muffin with peanut butter (or almond butter!) and your favorite jam/preserves. Peanut butter with banana slices and cinnamon is another go-to!

10. English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich with Egg, Cheese & Fig Jam – my creation!

Back in my early blogging days of packing lunchboxes, I used to eat cheese and jam sandwiches! I absolutely love thick slabs of cheddar cheese, and the sweetness of cheese with the jam is the perfect combination. I usually added some spinach or arugula to the sandwich for some greenery as well. This English muffin breakfast sandwich brings that same combo to your mornings with a fried egg packed in! You must cut your cheese thick (you want to keep its texture vs. wanting it to melt) and these stone wheat English muffins are the best ever.
