When I first visited Paris as a 19 year old, I wore a camel-colored version with a tie at the neck and felt every bit as stylish as the French women I was sauntering alongside. Nearly 20 years later and spending half of that time living between Nice and Paris, I’ve studied how Parisians style their winter wardrobe with variations of double-breasted peacoats that range from structured silhouettes befitting Audrey Hepburn to more effortlessly cool, loose looks that pair perfectly with comfy sneakers — they all make for the ideal travel jacket. Vogue predicted that extravagant collars would trend this fall, and the looks I’ve seen in Paris couldn’t be more on point. Sculptural jackets with oversized collars add flair to classics like a peacoat. This exaggerated notch collar on Madewell’s cropped herringbone peacoat adds edge while still maintaining an elegant flair thanks to the gorgeous tailoring, welt front pockets, and luxe fabric (You can’t get better than an Italian wool blend!).
