Best fragrances to buy for men in 2024
Besides cooking, another passion of mine that has overtaken my love of sneakers is fragrance. And just like being a sneakerhead, sometimes the scents are for “those in the know,” and for others to find out. I got into collecting about 3 years ago, and over the years, I’ve gathered quite a collection of amazing, unique boutique fragrances. I generally go with perfume because it lasts the longest and is “loud,” which is good because perfume can be pricey.
All of the fragrances I purchase are unisex – remember that the smell of a perfume can change depending on the body chemistry of the person wearing it. So, don’t be afraid to be adventurous. It’s hard to narrow down my top picks this year, but if I had to choose the top 3 of 2024, it would be these.
Fact: every time I wear one of these fragrances (or layer them), I am asked what I am wearing. These are solid.
Sellier by Byredo
Smoky, sophisticated, soft, and leathery with a little oud action. This perfume is highly concentrated, so it carries very well. Absolute winner. The person you gift it to will love it. Yes, it is very pricey but worth every penny. While I know my word is solid, I do recommend finding a store in your area that sells this collection so you can smell fit or yourself. *There is nothing on the market that smells like it.*
True story: I went to a celebrity charity event, and a well-known actress pulled me aside and said, “Oh my God, you smell amazing!”
Blue Talisman by Ex Nihilo
This scent is unrivaled in that it is hard to describe – it has notes of bergamot, mandarin, orange blossom (which I love), ginger, musk, and amber. I would even say a little pepper in the end. This is a light, fresh fragrance for everyday wear. I was recently on Live with Kelly & Mark, and during the commercial break, Kelly asked me what I was wearing because it smelled so good!
This fragrance was originally made to celebrate the 50th anniversary, but it was so popular they decided to make it a permanent part of the collection.
Last Night by Edward Bess (my top pick of 2024)
If I had to select a fragrance I wore the most this year, it would be this one. This is one of the most surprisingly unique, loud fragrances you will ever buy. The notes are simple – Bulgarian rose, leather, and smoke. All I need to say about this one is that it’s a showstopper. Prepare for several people to stop you on the street and ask what you are wearing. It can be an everyday fragrance but I would not recommend it – save it for special occasions where you can stand out among the rest.
It has been selling out pretty quickly in retailers so if you find a store that sells it, consider it a sign that you should make the investment and purchase.
