One. Two. Three times I visited the Olde English District in 2019. The first was and last visits were epic road trips crisscrossing through charming towns and past exciting state parks. By the end of the year, looking back at my favorite photos, I realized this historic district in South Carolina had etched a special place in my heart.
It all started in Fort Mill. Love at first sight. I spent a few days in Rock Hill and then a few more days months later. Historic Brattonsville. Andrew Jackson State Park. Camden. Cheraw. I just kept traveling the Olde English District.
My camera was always in my bag, always slung across my shoulder. It was a series of photogenic adventures. Here are my favorite travel photos of the Olde English District that are sure to inspire you to visit soon!

Not to be outdone by the large towns, the blink-and-you-miss-it Ridgeway was absolutely gorgeous and fun to explore.

Need a break? Go for a hike. The Riverwalk is just minutes from downtown Rock Hill and offers beautiful views along the Catawba River.
Speaking of the Catawba River, the rocky shoals spider lilies are one of the most stunning natural displays in the country. You’ll find these rare blooming flowers at Landsford Canal State Park.
Lake Wateree State Park has a secret overlook with a gorgeous view of hte lake within walking distance of the campground.

While at Cheraw State Park play golf by day, go for beautiful scenic walks at sunset.
Wanna learn some history? Andrew Jackson State Park is built near where the president was born and includes information on his childhood and political career.

Historic Camden is one of the best places in South Carolina to learn about the American Revolutionary War. The site includes several historic homes and buildings to explore on guided tours.

On an average day, visitors to Historic Brattonsville can freely explore the historic buildings and chat with living history reenactors.

The Improper Pig in Fort Mill has comfy seating with large windows, and the meals are served on quaint metal trays.

Amor Artis Brewing in Fort Mill is the kind of place where you take some friends, order a craft beer, and enjoy it for awhile. A long while.

Food Truck Fridays is one of the best times to visit Rock Hill. Walk the streets around Fountain Park, closed to vehicles, find some food and beer, and enjoy the live music.
