9 Best Adults-only All-inclusive Resorts in Jamaica

Between the beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and the vibrant cultural scene, it’s no wonder why Jamaica is among Travel + Leisure readers’ favorite Caribbean islands — and it’s only grown more popular among the masses. Moreover, in 2024 alone, the country set a new record, welcoming two million visitors within the first five months of the year.

With all this in mind, it makes sense that Jamaica — especially resort towns like Montego Bay and Ocho Rios — is home to many adults-only all-inclusive resorts. As you’ll notice below, options abound, from rustic-chic boutique haunts to more expansive oceanfront oases with abundant on-site restaurants and activities.

To help make trip planning easier, we’ve rounded up the best adults-only, all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, including expert recommendations and World’s Best Award winners.

Why I’m the Expert

Lauren Dana Ellman is a travel writer and editor who has visited the Caribbean — specifically Jamaica — several times, for business and leisure. Through her travels, she’s gotten to experience some of the island’s best all-inclusive stays, including those geared exclusively toward adults.

What to Consider

  • Since the Hideaway is part of the larger Royalton Negril, you can expect to see loads of families around the shared spaces, including most restaurants (only one of which is adults-only).

While the Hideaway at Royalton Negril is part of the larger Royalton Negril resort, it has dedicated spaces where guests can soak up the sun without screaming children.

When my family and I stayed here in December 2023, we were especially blown away by the service: As Diamond Club guests, we enjoyed butler service, and ours was very attentive — for example, going out of his way to remember our drinks of choice so they would be waiting for us by our pool chairs — without being bothersome. Another example: On my husband’s birthday, the team went above and beyond decorating our suite to the nines with balloons and faux flower petals.

We spent most of our days here lounging by the infinity pool, where we’d sip cocktails at the swim-up bar and live out our college-era spring break days with foam parties. Additional resort highlights include stylish all-suite accommodations (each with balconies or terraces and en-suite Jacuzzi soaking tubs), 13 bars, 11 restaurants, a spa, and a slew of water and land activities.

  • Gratuities included: Yes
  • Restaurant reservations required: No
  • Wi-Fi included: Yes

She describes the resort as “the perfect blend of adult luxury with family-friendly convenience.” Here, guests can grab a bite or a drink at one of 15-plus bars and restaurants, soak up the sun from the pristine beach area, post up by one of the sparkling swimming pools, or partake in complimentary activities such as non-motorized water sports, dance lessons, or cooking demos, to name a few. Finally, come nighttime, retreat to one of the resort’s 344 rooms and suites, each with tropical touches and private furnished balconies.

Located in the resort town of Negril, The Caves has an intimate and secluded feel since it has just 12 accommodations, all in the form of quaint cottages. The boutique property is a favorite of Travel + Leisure A-List advisor Margie Hand, who is quick to call out its serene cliffside locale.

Stroll down to the sea for a swim or kayaking, or make a beeline for the spa and indulge in the resort’s signature Jamaican brown sugar body scrub. The scrub can be enjoyed in a shaded cabana, candle-lit cave, or outdoors overlooking the water. Four on-site bars and restaurants are also available, most notably the Blackwell Rum Bar, which is situated inside a cave with volcanic cliffs as the walls.

What We Like

  • With its prime beachfront locale, laid-back vibes, local flair, and top-notch restaurants, S Hotel Jamaica is a favorite amongst trend-forward travelers.

What to Consider

  • S Hotel Jamaica is located in the heart of Montego Bay, near some of the destination’s best and busiest bars and nightlife venues. However, those seeking a secluded escape may be happier elsewhere.

Situated along the famed Doctor’s Cave Beach, S Hotel Montego Bay is a “boutique property that has a laid-back vibe and a lot of local flavor,” says Hand. Speaking of the latter, the travel pro adds that the resort “is known for great Jamaican food and offers five restaurants,” including Rocksteady, which features prints from Jamaican artist Michael Thompson, and Jamrock, where meats and seafood are served on heated rocks.

While we wouldn’t blame you if you spent the entire stay here soaking up the sun on the beach, we also recommend heading to the rooftop pool for a refreshing dip while listening to reggae music. Alternatively, for some R&R, check into the holistic spa that offers subterranean plunge pools and island-inspired treatments such as sugar cane body scrubs and coconut body wraps. In terms of accommodations, guests can select from a slew of room and suite categories, each with contemporary design elements. Some units offer private cabana access, while others have soaking tubs and ocean views.

What to Consider

  • Some parts of the resort, including the beach and one of the pools, are clothing-optional, which may not be for everyone.

Couples Sans Souci recently racked up a 2024 World’s Best Award, and it’s easy to see why. Located in Ocho Rios on 35 oceanfront acres, the romantic resort offers its own mineral grotto and spring pool for rejuvenating dips. From there, head straight to the spa for an oceanfront massage or body treatment (seaweed body wraps, anyone?). Alternatively, adventure-loving couples can go paddleboarding, scuba diving and snorkeling.

There are also 12 bars and restaurants, top-notch sports and fitness facilities, and a private au natural beach and pool. The refurbished all-suite accommodations are light, airy, and beachy-chic, with soft pastels, light wood furnishings, and woven wicker accents.

The Details:

  • Distance to airport: 8 miles
  • Gratuities included: Yes
  • Restaurant reservations required: For select restaurants.

What to Consider

  • If you don’t have butler service, securing a chair by the beach or pool can be challenging, especially in peak season.

Open since May 2023, Sandals Dunn’s River in Ocho Rios is an excellent adults-only, all-inclusive escape in Ocho Rios. “The beach is beautiful, and the resort is very pretty,” says T+L A-List advisor Maria Diego. Additionally, “the food options are great, with excellent sushi.”

While you can’t go wrong in any of the rooms and suites, it’s worth opting for one with butler service, a private pool, swim-up access, or a spacious Tranquility Soaking Tub. In terms of activities, it’s pretty much impossible to be bored with unlimited land and water sports, seven pools, scuba diving, a full-service spa, and day and evening entertainment.

  • This property is situated on a private peninsula, which means its swath of pristine, secluded sand is one of the best options for beach lovers.

Situated on a pristine private peninsula flanked by sparkling turquoise waters, Excellence Oyster Bay is the perfect place to unwind with a partner or a group of friends. Hand is quick to call out the resort’s two miles of private beach and ample amenities, including the Miilé Spa, five swimming pools, fitness classes, cooking classes, and a variety of other activities. Speaking of the latter, T+L contributor Lauren Breedlove agrees, noting that “there were plenty of activities, from stand-up paddleboarding to biking to yoga classes, and you can choose to do as much or little as you’d like.”

When they’re not relaxing by the beach, swimming in the pool, or partaking in one of the activities above, guests can be found lounging in one of the all-suite accommodations, which start at a whopping 800 square feet and offer private balconies and en-suite jetted tubs for two. The ultra-stylish bars and restaurants — there are 11 total — genuinely offer something for every palate, from Italian fare at Oregano to Jamaican barbecue at Jerk Hut, while the full-service Miilé Spa offers a hydrotherapy circuit and unique treatments like cocoa body wraps.

The Details:

  • Restaurant reservations required: No, exception for one restaurant, Spice.
  • Wi-Fi included: Yes
  • Starting rate: From $486 per night

Know Before You Go

Size matters.

According to Pavich, it’s essential to consider the resort’s size before booking your stay. “While a larger resort can offer more amenities, it can feel crowded,” she explains. On the contrary, she tells T+L that “a boutique resort can provide a more intimate and personalized experience.” This, of course, ultimately depends on your specific travel style and preferences, which we’ll dive into below.

Prioritize your must-haves — and make sure they’re included.

“When booking an all-inclusive resort, it’s important to prioritize your must-have amenities to ensure the property meets your specific need,” says Fora travel advisor Kim Walters. With that in mind, she recommends thinking about what matters most to you — be it gourmet dining, top-shelf drinks,  incredible wellness offerings, or plentiful activities and nightlife. You’ll also want to ensure these are included in the cost of your stay.

Consider the season.

Prices and availability will vary greatly depending on what time of year you’re traveling. For example, Hand explains to T+L that Jamaica’s high season lasts from December to April. “This will be when pricing is higher and availability can be limited,” Hand says. “I suggest planning ahead when traveling during these months (especially the festive period, spring break, and Easter).”

Conversely, low and shoulder season takes place the rest of the year, when you’ll find lower pricing. (However, remember that hurricane season lasts from June through November.)

Location, location, location.

This (in)famous real estate saying rings true when choosing a resort, too. “If you’re only going for a weekend, you’ll want to choose a resort that minimizes travel time,” says Walters.

Also, if you’d like to leave the property to explore, consider how close your desired resort is to popular attractions. On the other hand, if you prefer a more relaxing retreat, you may choose somewhere that’s a bit more secluded. (Read: removed from the tourist-heavy spots.)

How We Chose These Hotels

To narrow down the best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, T+L contributor Lauren Dana Ellman poured through hundreds of user reviews and ratings. From there, she researched each property’s key features and amenities. Additionally, she relied on her experience as a traveler and reached out to travel pros — including two Travel + Leisure A-List advisors — for their expert recommendations. A couple of the properties on this list also racked up a coveted World’s Best Award. As always, all of our hotel recommendations align with the T+L Hotel Values.
