Honey Glazed Salmon {Honey, Garlic + Soy Sauce Salmon Glaze}

This delicious honey glazed salmon is basted with a garlic, ginger, butter, sriracha, and lemon sauce while being seared to tender perfection. There’s just enough honey in our salmon glaze to caramelize the edges. And I know you’re going to love it. Let me show you why this is my current favorite salmon recipe.

Ingredients For Honey Garlic Salmon

With just a few ingredients, this caramelized, slightly sweet and full of umami flavor honey glazed salmon recipe comes to life. Here’s what to collect and a few notes:

  • Salmon: I prefer wild caught salmon filets, as they contain a lower level of contaminants. Varieties such as Coho have the most mild salmon flavor, while Sockeye is stronger in salmon flavor and higher in fat.
  • Sauce for salmon: Butter, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, water, sriracha, lemon juice, honey, and red pepper flakes.

How to Modify This Sauce for Salmon

This honey garlic salmon is delicious as is, but also simple to modify. Here are a few ways to tweak this salmon glaze:

  1. Spicier: Add more red pepper flakes!
  2. Reduce the sugar content: You can add less honey or swap it for a keto sweetener, just know your salmon won’t caramelize as well along the edges.
  3. Fresh herbs: Finish your pan seared salmon with fresh herbs to switch up the flavor profile.

How to Make Honey Glazed Salmon

This honey glazed salmon recipe comes together easily in an oven safe pan, here’s how with step-by-step photos to guide you:

  1. Season salmon, since our salmon glaze is so flavor packed I’m just using salt and pepper here, but you can mix in your favorite salmon seasoning as well.
  2. Saute garlic and ginger.
  3. Add all other sauce for salmon ingredients to the pan.
  4. Add the salmon and sear on each side.
  5. Flip and baste until salmon is cooked through.

Storing + Reheating Tips

When lightly reheated or served cold (ideas below…), this honey glazed salmon makes for great leftovers. Here’s how to make the most of them:

  1. Store salmon in an airtight container, with additional sauce on the side.
  2. Reheat in the microwave until just warm, keeping in mind that salmon dries out easily, so the texture may not be as perfect as it initially was.

Instructions

  • Pat salmon dry with paper towels. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and press to adhere.

  • In a large, oven safe pan (I use my cast iron for this), melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and ginger, and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the water, soy sauce, sriracha, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and honey.

  • Place the salmon skin side down (even if using skinless) in your pan. Cook, basting the salmon in sauce frequently, until the skin is crispy, or the bottom is golden.

  • Flip, and continue to cook on the other side until golden and salmon is cooked through.

  • Be sure to drizzle salmon with additional sauce before serving, and enjoy!
