Bang Bang Salmon
This bang bang salmon recipe is by far my favorite way to prepare salmon. Use it to make salmon bowls with cauliflower rice or white rice for a satisfying and easy meal.
Salmon is such a great source of protein and cooks in less than 15 minutes so it is perfect for an easy dinner on busy weeknights.
Fresh salmon fillets are seasoned and then coated in a spicy sauce made from simple ingredients including: light mayonnaise, sriracha hot sauce, lime juice, rice vinegar, garlic powder, soy sauce, sugar, and ginger. In the recipe card below I give instructions for the air fryer or baking in the oven.
Serving
The slightly spicy flavors (thanks to the sriracha sauce) of the flavorful salmon pairs perfectly with a cucumber salad or a green vegetable like sautéed zucchini. I make a rice bowl of it with cauliflower rice and extra sauce.

Ingredients
- 4 boneless salmon filets , about 6 ounces each
- salt and black pepper
- ½ cup Bang Bang Sauce
Instructions
Oven Baked
-
Pre-heat the oven to 425F and line a small baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and coat with cooking spray. Place the salmon in a single layer on the lined baking sheet, skin side down, and season with salt and pepper. Coat each piece of salmon with approximately 1 tablespoon of bang bang sauce. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a meat thermometer registers an internal temperature of 125F. The cook times will vary depending on the thickness of the filets. Remove from the oven and coat with extra sauce.
Air fried
-
If you air fryer basket is not non-stick, you may want to spray with cooking spray or coat with oil. Place the salmon filets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, skin side down. Season with salt and pepper and coat each filet with about 1 tablespoon of the bang bang sauce. Air fry at 400F for about 10 minutes, or until a meat thermometer registers an internal temperature of 125F. The cook times will vary depending on the thickness of the filets. Coat the cooked salmon filets with remaining creamy sauce.
-
Serve the salmon with sliced green onions or sesame seeds.
Notes
- Sauce ingredients: see the recipe post for the bang bang sauce for ingredient substitutions.
- Salmon skin: you can use skinless or skin on salmon for this recipe. The skin is easier to remove once the salmon is cooked. The flesh flakes right off of the skin.
- Store leftover salmon in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
