Today I’m sharing two of my current favorites for healthy mature skin.
If you’re reading this post, you are likely in my age bracket (if not, this can still be of interest, read on). Additionally, if you’re reading, you are most likely eating a whole foods plant-based diet, which is priming your vegan skin to be the healthiest at any age!
Since it’s much easier to describe details in a video, I created this short-ish clip for you to watch. But please read on for additional insights, and also bonus product tips.
Vegan Skincare for Mature Skin: Castor Oil
My video goes into details, so please have a watch. You can find many more videos about the benefits of organic castor oil for healthy mature skin.
Perhaps you have younger skin and are wondering how castor oil might help. Research has shown that the ricinoleic acid in organic castor oil may help fight swelling and pain caused by inflammation when applied to your skin. Castor oil also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that may help speed wound healing, and people have reported it beneficial for breakouts and acne.
I have been using organic, hexane-free, cold-pressed castor oil in a glass bottle for about a month, and love it. When this bottle of castor oil is out, I plan to try the Jamaican Black Castor Oil.
My Canadian friends 🇨🇦 here are links for organic, hexane-free, cold-pressed castor oil (in glass bottle) and Jamaican Black Castor Oil.
Since filming this video, I’ve also learned about castor oil packs.
These packs can be beneficial for healing. It seems most often they are placed over the liver for detox, or the stomach for gut health, or an area of inflammation. I’m interested in trying it for gut health. Note, it must be an organic material, this one by Queen of the Thrones (Canadian link here) is organic cotton. Here are some other reported benefits of using a castor oil pack:
- Relaxing the digestive system, reducing bloat and improving constipation
- Reducing gallbladder inflammation/stones
- Improving lymphatic drainage
- Reducing gut inflammation
- Reducing headaches and migraines
- Detoxifying the liver
- Shrinking thyroid cysts and nodules
Again, I haven’t tried out the pack myself, so please research on your own, talk to your doctor if necessary, and make an informed decision. 🫶
Vegan Cosmetics for Healthy Mature Skin: Andalou Naturals
Next up in the video, this Andalou Rose Color Correct SPF 30 is BEAUTIFUL! I use it daily, I love it and have used it for at least 8 months, maybe longer. It offers a dewy, light coverage (I do not like foundation) with a subtle and lovely natural rose oil aroma. The SPF30 is an added benefit, and so important for our healthy mature skin.
I’ve used other Andalou products over the years, their products are beautiful. Most are vegan, and all are cruelty-free. You can see their non-vegan products (using beeswax) here on their site’s FAQ. Bonus: You can enjoy 20% off your first purchase via their site! They have trial packs as well, such as this rose skincare set.
I also pulled the links to this Rose Color Correct via amazon. Here it is on amazon.com, and on amazon.ca.
Finally, though I didn’t really feature the Purity Woods products specifically, I did mention them in the video. You can find the Purity Woods skincare here (as with Andalou, not all are fully vegan but they are all cruelty-free).
