Lewis Hamilton’s Frustrations With Toto Wolff Come to a Boiling Point as Miami GP Brings Devastating Revelation for Mercedes

The performance of the recent Mercedes cars has become the main reason Lewis Hamilton decided to give up on the team and move to Ferrari. Race after race, it’s getting more clear that Mercedes has lost their mojo with the two drivers not even qualifying in the top 10 for the sprint race. This is causing the 7-time world champion to lose his patience.

Hamilton did quite well at the Chinese Grand Prix sprint race finishing second and scoring some much-needed points. But that joy was soon lost when he finished 9th during the main race. It’s getting more evident that Hamilton is just waiting for the season to get over so he can move to Ferrari. After his disappointing results in Miami, he came forth to speak about his not-so-great experience, shocking Toto Wolff and the rest of the world.

Lewis Hamilton opens up about Mercedes’s current pace

“No more experiments…that’s just our pace,” Hamilton said in a post-race interview when he was asked about his performance for the day. It’s clear that he is not happy with Mercedes and they are unable to give him a competitive car. When he was asked about his experience, he stated, “The car felt in really good in P1 and then P2, I mean, it did feel terrible.”

Mercedes decided to make changes to the car between the practice and the sprint which is what hindered Lewis Hamilton’s performance. He further explained, “It’s just with seven tents off. I mean, that’s just the pace of our car.” This is disappointing for all fans who expected him to at least qualify for the race within the top 10.

With him qualifying 12th for the Sprint race, there is only so much he can do in a car that he is not comfortable with. While he has won races starting at P20 in the past, that was during his prime, and about the Sprint race, here is what he had to say.

Lewis Hamilton’s plans for the Miami Sprint Race

After questions about his Sprint Qualifiers, he was asked about how he is feeling about the Sprint race, to which he replied, “This Sprint race is gonna be tough. I mean, we’re 12. Don’t expect a huge amount from now, to be honest, or not an easy circuit to overtake on what to follow. So just trying to step into the point somehow.”

Lewis Hamilton will be starting at P12 which leaves 11 drivers causing traffic for him at the first turn. The Miami Autodrome track is quite narrow with not enough room to overtake, and that’s what he tried to explain.

The next question asked to the Mercedes driver was if they plan on doing some experiments on the car to find a better setup for the drivers. To this Hamilton replied, “No this weekend we’re just been no more experiments just like trying to make the car work. So I feel like we extracted everything from the car and that’s just our pace, you know, we just have to accept it for the moment that we are seven-tenths off.”
