What your running horoscope has in store this month

Runners, have you been feeling lost and need some guidance? Bet you didn’t know your zodiac sign may hold the key to your running life. Check out your running horoscope for tips on how to transform your running this spring and summer.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

It’s your birthday, Taurus, so indulge yourself. Eat the last piece of cake (you need to fuel, after all) and splurge on your favourite Nikes. As a Taurus, your love for comfort and stability can sometimes be in conflict with a need for variety in your running routine; try switching up your routes and recharging your watch. Famous Taurus runners: U.S. marathoners Joan Benoit Samuelson, Galen Rupp and Meb Keflizighi.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

As your birthday draws closer, it’s time to reflect on what you’ve outgrown, mainly your clothing. This process can be healing, Gemini. This month will have challenges, but remember that adaptability and spontaneity are your strengths. Hill training and pizza are favoured during this time. Famous Gemini runners: long-distance superstar Kenenisa Bekele and Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Themes related to friendship and community are front and centre for you, Cancer. It’s time to join that run club and volunteer for that race. After a long run, get the gang together and treat yourself to beer and a burger—just remember to text them in advance this time! Famous Cancer runner: 2018 Boston Marathon champion Des Linden

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

As summer approaches, Leo, it’s natural to be conscious of your personal image. But remember, it’s your unique journey that matters, not how you compare to others. Your fixed nature provides you with the stability and consistency for this sport. Embrace these traits and run with confidence, and consider investing in a running hat or mineral sunscreen. Famous Leo runners: Olympic 100m and 200m world record holder Usain Bolt and Canadian Olympian Lucia Stafford.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You’ve been expanding your wings, Virgo. The pursuit of becoming a Local Legend on Strava has you wondering, “What new route should I explore today?” This is a beautiful time to connect with your community, and be gentle with yourself; don’t worry so much about perfection. Famous Virgo runners: Olympic 1,500m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and multiple Canadian record-holder Gabriela DeBues-Stafford.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You’re in the midst of a lot of change, Libra. You’re ready to start fresh and add some fun to your training—just try not to add too much, as usual! You’re more honest and open about your pace, and don’t feel as much of an urge to always record your runs on Strava. Focus on your breath (and air out your trainers). Famous Libra runner: two-time Olympic 1,500m champion Sebastian Coe.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Scorpio, you are on a roll! Your confidence is surging and you’re forging connections with others, since your positivity is making you a popular running companion. Just remember to carve out time for yourself. Perhaps change your running hairstyle–be bold! Famous Scorpio runners: Olympic 200m champion Andre De Grasse and former marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Are you ready to get busy, Sagittarius? This is an excellent month to focus on improving your PBs. You’ve been feeling bored in your training routine for a while, and now is the time for something different–some interval training, maybe. Famous Sagittarius runners: Canadian (and former world) 100m record holder Donovan Bailey and the late 100m world record holder Florence Griffith-Joyner.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

The urge to express yourself is strong, Capricorn. You’re feeling courageous and bold, and ready to race in a banana costume! Start applying more deodorant, and go easy downhill. Romantic connections are likely. Stop running from your feelings and find a runny buddy.  Famous Capricorn runners: former Canadian record holder and Boston Marathon winner Jerome Drayton and Canadian distance runner Sasha Gollish.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You might crave some alone time to reconnect with your inner runner, Aquarius. That’s OK, but remember to prioritize the people who lift your spirits. It’s time to step off the elliptical, download T-Swift’s latest album, and start exploring some new routes in your neighborhood! Famous Aquarius runners: 1,500m and mile world record holder Faith Kipyegon and Canadian record holder Ben Flanagan

Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)

Is that inner voice sounding negative again, Pisces? Shut out your inner critic and slow down a little. It’s a great time to add some more aerobic cross-training into your routine. Don’t think about what other runners are doing. Stay true to yourself and your goals. Famous Pisces runners: 400m world record holder Karsten Warholm and former Canadian Olympic marathoner Silvia Ruegger.

Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 19)

Aries, there is nothing you can’t do if you set your mind to it. But, first, you need to stop letting your impulses run wild, so you can soar. You will be faced with new obstacles this month and many races to register for. Time to start going to bed earlier and pounding back the water! Famous Aries runners: Olympic 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson and Olympic long-distance champion Sir Mo Farah.
