MANILA, Philippines—The PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series between Rain or Shine and San Miguel came to an end on Friday and so did the animosity between Beermen guard Terrence Romeo and Elasto Painters coach Yeng Guiao.

Before the Beermen even completed the sweep in Game 4 to reach the PBA Finals, Romeo and Guiao already buried the hatchet.

“I went to coach Yeng and I apologized because it wasn’t my intention to disrespect him,” said Romeo in Filipino.

“I don’t and won’t have anything bad to say against coach Yeng because I really have high respect for him. He’s a really good coach.”

Tempers flared near the end of San Miguel’s 117-107 victory in Game 3 at Dasmariñas City Arena in Cavite after Romeo hit a triple with the contest already decided. The basket did not sit well with Guiao, who felt Romeo was “disrespectful” for taking a meaningless shot.

“[It’s just from the] heat of the game. There are times when we get mad when somebody offends us that we possibly say something that’s not good. That goes for everyone, of course. The good thing with coach Yeng is, when I approached him, he didn’t push me away,” said Romeo.

“Terrence apologized before the game, I accepted it so that conversation [or topic] is done. It’s nothing now and we move forward after that,” said Guiao in Filipino.
