The Dallas Mavericks walked into the American Airlines Center determined to walk away with a ticket to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, they didn’t stand a chance against the incredibly stunning and even more determined group of Wolves. What should have been a series sweep ended up in their first loss. While the Mavs still hold a two-game advantage, tonight’s defeat was especially hurtful for Kyrie Irving.
Ahead of the matchup, everybody saw a smiling ‘Uncle Drew’. In fact, he went as far as taunting their opponents. “We good, this is their Super Bowl. It’s just a normal game for us.” We suppose it’s safe to say Minnesota won the Super Bowl? The normal game for the Mavs, however, soon turned into a 100-105 loss in front of their home crowd.
Irving couldn’t be more sorry. Talking to reporters post-game, he said, “A loss like this definitely stings. It definitely hurts. We would have loved to close out the series on our home floor – sorry fans.” Aside from the failure to close out the series, this is the first time that the veteran guard lost a series-clinching game in his career (14-1)!
