Flying with Alaska Airlines is about to get more comfortable.
That’s because the airline will select one lucky main cabin passenger every day this summer and offer them a complimentary upgrade to premium class, which includes an additional four inches of legroom along with perks like free cocktails, beer, and wine. The campaign, called upgrade unlocked, will run from June 1 through Sept. 2, Alaska shared with Travel + Leisure.
“Upgrade unlocked is one way we’re showing guests our appreciation for choosing to fly with us to their favorite destinations this summer,” Eric Edge, the managing director of marketing and advertising at Alaska Airlines, said in a statement shared with T+L. “Whether it’s their first time or they’ve experienced Premium Class before – we can’t wait to hear from our guests who receive this surprise upgrade!”
Travelers who are selected for the daily upgrade will be notified through the Alaska Airlines mobile app or by email. And the best part is one of the winner’s travel partners will get upgraded too if they’re flying on the same reservation. Passengers do not need to be part of Alaska’s loyalty program to participate.
Alaska operates three cabin classes: main cabin, premium class, and first class. In addition to the other perks, passengers in premium class can board the aircraft early (and get early access to coveted overhead bin space). Travelers who want to upgrade themselves to premium class can pay for the seat up to 30 minutes before their departure starting at $15 per flight.
It also just got easier to earn points with Alaska Airlines thanks to a new offer from Bilt Rewards, which allows Alaska Mileage Plan members to earn up to 3x Alaska miles for paying rent through Bilt. Travelers can earn up to 150,000 miles per year.
In addition, the airline recently introduced a paid subscription service with discounts on Wi-Fi and first dibs on sales. The subscription costs $5 per month and requires a 12 month commitment.
