If tennis were a country, Roger Federer‘s photo would undoubtedly grace its currency as a symbol of greatness and elegance. His contributions to the sport are monumental, but his impact off the court is equally profound, touching the lives of countless fans and aspiring athletes. His recent documentary, “FEDERER: Twelve Final Days,” has offered an intimate glimpse into the final chapter of his illustrious career. The latest to join the chorus of praise is American tennis star Coco Gauff.
The 20-year-old is currently on her grass court campaign at the ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin. While she is all set to face Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals, the star seems to keep everything behind her admiration for Roger Federer. Meanwhile, the rain gods seem to be supporting the American star as well. The match, scheduled to take place on Friday, May 21, will now take place on Saturday owing to rain. Ahead of her match, Coco took to her Instagram story and revealed that she is all set to watch the documentary, based on one of the greatest of all time.
Taking to her social media, Coco Gauff shared a week-old post by Roger Federer which he posted during the premiere of the film. Captioning the photo, she wrote, “ready to grab my tissues 🥲.” Gauff’s story highlights the emotional angle of the film because we all knew there was going to be a lot of sobbing involved off the screen as well. Earlier, Federer too had claimed that there are several aspects of the film which are very emotional.

In an interview that featured on La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 42-year-old revealed that the most interesting part of the film is its initial phase. When asked about what could be the most emotional angle to the film, Federer said, “Probably Mirka and Rafa’s speeches, the moments behind the scenes and those of the entire initial phase of the film, everything that happens in the first five minutes.” Emphasizing further the importance of the initial phase of the film, he said “Here, don’t miss the beginning!” Meanwhile, Coco’s admiration for the tennis legend is not new.
After a match in Miami in March this year, Gauff revealed that she feels good when she receives a message from Federer. “Once a blue moon, Roger will send me a message. That’s always pretty cool when he does,” she said. Meanwhile, the tennis star is not just winning hearts on the court with her skills but just as Federer’s praise lifts her spirits, the World no. 2 did the same for another.
