Should Peloton Upgrade Its Business Model by Expanding Into Entertainment?

Peloton has been a revelation in the world of cycling over recent years, giving people the chance to exercise from home with professional instructors pumping them up and telling them what to do. Its initial growth was astonishing, but sales have started to level out in recent years.

It’s clear that Peloton now needs to expand its business model to attract more customers. One way to do this could be to incorporate more entertainment options on the built-in screen.

Online Casino Games Could be a Popular Option

Since the dawn of the internet, the online casino industry has been one of the most popular forms of entertainment. More players flock to the market every year, and this is highlighted by the variety on offer among Paddy Power blackjack games. Players can choose between traditional versions of the gambling classic, alongside modern options such as Power Blackjack and Quantum Blackjack Plus.

Because casino games can be played in short bursts and are simple enough for most people to get into, they could be excellent options to integrate into the Peloton’s built-in screens. Similar to the guided training sessions that already exist on the cycling service’s app, online casino games come with a choice of hosts. That means users can choose to play with the person that they feel the most connection with.

Streaming Services Integration

The rise of streaming services has been almost as impressive as the ballooning of the online casino market over the last decade. Netflix set the trend for others to follow, and now there are countless platforms for viewers to choose from. Some of the best options include Amazon, HBO Max, and Disney+, all of which have a fantastic array of movies and television series.

Watching an engaging piece of entertainment on one of these streaming services while cycling could be an excellent trick to make yourself exercise for longer. If you’re fully absorbed in some riveting entertainment, you may not think about the effort you’re having to put into the cycling. Peloton could seek to forge a partnership with a streaming service to offer its content on the built-in screen. This could lead to more cycling-themed series on the service to capitalise on the partnership.

More Focus on Community and Social Interaction

One of the best aspects of the Peloton app is that it allows users to compete with one another on leaderboards. However, it could potentially do more to offer social interaction between users. Social media sites like Facebook have been revolutionary online, and they are set to continue in the future.

One way to get more people into exercise is to make it a communal event where they can meet likeminded individuals. Peloton could encourage this by offering chat rooms that allow people to chat with one another while they ride.

Peloton’s rise has been impressive, but now it clearly needs to do more to avoid plateauing. Leveraging the power of the entertainment industry could be the way forward, and there are loads of options that could be offered on the bike screens.
