When it comes to the upcoming generation in tennis, Alexander Zverev is someone who constantly comes to everyone’s mind. In recent times, the German sensation has not only impressed everyone with his gameplay but looks more determined than ever to lay his hands on the title. Coming into Wimbledon with the same motivation, he has so far managed to stand up to the expectations. But, with the tournament reaching its latter stages, the competition gets tougher.

Having made his way into the fourth round, he will be locking horns against local favorite Cameron Norrie. The British star, who is looking sublime in front of his home crowd does not seem to stop anytime soon and will look to stop the German star’s momentum. Alexander Zverev, ranked No. 4, made it to the third round after solid victories over Roberto Carballes Baena and Marcos Giron. In the second round against Giron, Zverev won convincingly in straight sets, scoring 84 points to Giron’s 50, and hitting 36 winners.

His strong serve, including 12 aces and only 2 double faults, allowed him to win 88% of his first serve points and 65% of his second serves. Zverev broke Giron six times. This year, Zverev has won titles in Australia and Rome, boasting a 39-11 win-loss record, including a 5-1 on grass.

Ranked No. 42, Brit Cameron Norrie advanced to the third round after defeating Facundo Diaz Acosta and Jack Draper. In the second round, Norrie had a straight-sets win against Draper, scoring 122 points to Draper’s 109 and hitting 58 winners. Norrie served 10 aces and only 4 double faults, winning 74% of his first serve points and 54% of his second serves.

Despite conceding his serve twice, he broke Draper three times. Norrie hasn’t dropped a set in the tournament and has won 55% of the points played. His best result this year was reaching the semifinals in Rio de Janeiro, with a 17-14 win-loss record, including 3-3 on grass.

Zverev vs Norrie: Head-to-head

When it comes to the head-to-head stats between the two players, there has been a major difference in the scoreline.  Talking about th professional tour, these stars have faced each other a totla of 5 times and on all the occasions, Alexander Zverev has come out on top, thereby maintaining a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Thier first meeting came back in the semifinals of Acapulco in 2019. Alexander Zverev showed sheer dominance to make his way into the finals by winning the match in straight sets. On the other hand, their most recent encounter came at the Australian Open this year. In what was a tight 5-set encounter, both players played neck to neck but it was Zverev at the end who managed to come out on top. The final scoreline of the match remained 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (3).

Prediction: Alexander Zverev to take the win home and make his way into the next round

With the stage set for an epic encounter, predicting a winner would not be easy. It is clear that both players are well aware of each other’s game and with the head-to-head advantage that Alex Zverev has, he could use that in his favor. Besides, coming into the event the German star has momentum giing by his side and could use that as a weapon.

For Cameron Norrie, his recent win over fellow compatriot Jack Draper will certainly give him some much needed confidence and coming in as a local hero, he will certainly enjoy the fans’ support.
