This is my 2-ingredient frosted lemonade! It’s an easy, creamy, and refreshing Chick-fil-A copycat; all you need is lemonade and frozen yogurt or ice cream.
If you love this bright and zesty summer drink idea, give my easy strawberry limeade a try, too!
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. But when life provides the lemonade, along with frozen yogurt, we make creamy frosted lemonade! This easy frozen drink is so fun, and it tastes just like the Chick-fil-A version that inspired it. On our last visit to the drive-thru, I didn’t even need to bribe the cashier for the secret. All you need to make their famous frosted lemonade? Vanilla ice cream! It’s crazy simple and you’ll be blending up batches all summer.
Why You’ll Love This Frosted Lemonade Recipe
- 2 ingredients. Save yourself a fast-food run. Instead, pick up a can of frozen lemonade and a tub of ice cream on your next trip to the store. That’s it!
- Quick. If you have a blender and approximately 2 minutes to spare, you can make this frosted lemonade. I love that it’s super quick because my girls ask for it often.
- Refreshing. This creamy frozen lemonade is somewhere between a smoothie and a milkshake, depending on whether you make it with ice cream or frozen yogurt. It’s thick and frosty, honestly the best drink (or drinkable dessert) to cool down with in the summer heat.
What You’ll Need
In case you missed it: All you need to make this famous frosted lemonade at home is your favorite cold lemonade, plus vanilla ice cream. Or, in the case of this lightened-up version, I use frozen yogurt. Check out the recipe card below the post for the printable ingredient amounts.
If you’re feeling festive, go ahead and add a splash (or two) of liquor, like rum or vodka, for an adult twist.
How to Make Chick-fil-A’s Frosted Lemonade
To make this smooth and frosty frozen lemonade, simply combine equal parts lemonade and ice cream (or fro-yo) in your blender and give that a whirl. I like to start on Low for a few seconds and then give it a fast, final whip before pouring it into a mason jar for serving. Garnish with lemon wedges and mint, and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Make a strong batch. If you’re making your lemonade from a concentrate, like Minute Maid, consider reducing the suggested amount of water so that the lemon flavor is more concentrated. The same goes if you’re making lemonade from scratch. If I use store-bought lemonade, I usually juice a fresh lemon and add that in to boost the flavor.
- Add yellow food coloring. I don’t mind my frosted lemonade el natural, but if you’d like, go ahead and add a little yellow food dye to brighten the color.
- Blend slow, then fast. My trick to ensuring this Chick-fil-A frosted lemonade comes out super smooth is to pulse/blend at Low speed for about 15 seconds before blending on High.
- Make it dairy-free. Use your favorite dairy-free frozen yogurt instead of ice cream or regular fro-yo. I haven’t tried this recipe with another dairy alternative, like coconut ice cream, but I think it might change the flavor quite a bit.
What to Serve With Frosted Lemonade
This copycat Chick-fil-A frosted lemonade is the ultimate poolside refresher alongside a platter of crispy Cajun fries. You can really recreate the drive-thru experience with crispy air fryer chicken, served in a sandwich or with a side of dipping sauce, like honey mustard. Or, keep it light with a lemon kale Caesar salad. For dessert, I love the lemony flavors next to strawberry shortcake or a fresh fruit salad.
Make-Ahead
Frosted lemonade is too frozen for the fridge and too liquid to store in the freezer. The best thing you can do is make as many servings as you need on the day. You can make a batch of lemonade in advance and keep it in the fridge for a week or so, and just blend it up with ice cream whenever a craving hits!
