When you’re trying to lose weight, it’s easy to feel down and despondent and like there’s nothing to look forward to at times, especially when you’ve always used food as a treat – something to look forward to.
That’s why it’s so important that you reward your successes along the way on your weight loss journey. Doing so can help you to keep your head in the game and reach your goals far more effectively.
But how do you treat yourself if not with your favourite foods? Here are a few ideas to help you to stay motivated.
A day out
Treating yourself to a day out is a really healthy way to treat yourself when you’re losing weight compared to food rewards. It’ll take you away from all of the usual triggers while giving you something to look forward to. It’s a no-brainer really.
Try a spa day where you can pamper your body and show it how much you love it or a trip to a farm park with the whole family, where you can walk around and enjoy some fresh air.
A new outfit
High up on my list of weight loss rewards is a new outfit. Losing weight means losing inches so it makes sense to treat yourself to a nice new outfit when you’ve hit an important weight loss milestone.
Choose something that’s maybe a bit more special than you would usually buy and make it something you wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing before weight loss to make it more effective. You’ll look and feel fabulous.
Decorate the house
Lost a stone? Why not get the interior painters in to give your living room a new lease of life?
It may sound odd but anything you can do that you will appreciate, and which will make your life better is going to be an effective reward, and when you have the decorators in, the last thing you’ll be thinking about is chocolate!
A relaxing massage
Let’s face it, losing weight can be pretty stressful, so it makes sense that you should aim to reward yourself with soothing activities and it doesn’t get more soothing than a good massage.
Not only will a massage release any stress and tension from your body but you could even get a weight-loss boosting massage that will help you on your journey.
Stress produces cortisol which causes your body to hold onto fat and a good massage can counteract that. So what are you waiting for?
Why not treat yourself to a massage chair and really relax?
A personal trainer
Weight loss and exercise go hand in hand, but if you don’t know where to start it can be quite intimidating.
So, once you’ve reached one of your weight loss goals, why not treat yourself to a personal trainer who can show you how it’s done and motivate you to be the best version of yourself you can possibly be? You won’t regret it.
A makeover
Losing weight means you’re looking and feeling good, so why not enhance that feeling even more by having your hair and makeup done by a professional?
You need to learn how to take pleasure from things other than food and your appearance is a great place to start, especially if you’ve neglected that area in the past.
Whatever activity you choose, be sure to reward all your hard work!
