President Biden, who spent Sunday campaigning in Pennsylvania, is back in Washington to prepare to welcome world leaders for a three-day, U.S.-hosted NATO summit that begins Tuesday. The high-stakes gathering comes as Biden works to put his reelection campaign back on track amid rising calls from within his party for him to step aside following his poor debate performance. Four senior House Democrats forcefully declared Sunday during an off-the-record call with House Democratic leadership that they believe Biden should step aside: Reps. Jerry Nadler (N.Y.), Adam Smith (Wash.), Mark Takano (Calif.) and Joseph Morelle (D-N.Y.), according to two people on the call. They join five other House Democrats who have publicly called on Biden to drop his reelection bid or believe Donald Trump would beat him in November.
