MANILA, Philippines—The country’s only Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo rallied for support for the Team Philippines in the Paris Summer Games.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Diaz-Naranjo showed her support for the Philippines delegation, which is still seeking its first medal in the Paris Olympics.
Diaz-Naranjo said her compatriots in Paris will “show the world what Filipinos are made of.”

“Let’s give our all-out support to our Filipino Champions! Representing our country in the global arena is already a huge achievement, having gone through a series of rigorous qualifications,” wrote Diaz.
“It means the world to me and will always hold a special place in my life, as our historic gold in weightlifting in Tokyo was inspired by the athletes who came before me. I am incredibly proud of my fellow athletes and Champions. They’ll show the world what Filipinos are made of. You all got this!”
As of writing, Team Philippines has yet to notch a guaranteed medal but a lot of athletes are still in contention.

Boxing bets Aira Villegas, Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam are still in the hunt for medals in their own respective divisions.
Diaz-Naranjo’s fellow weightlifters have also yet to compete with the ensemble of Elreen Ando, John Ceniza and Vanessa Sarno.
The Philippines’ athletics bets are also on the wings waiting for action alongside top pole vaulter EJ Obiena.
