Both of these versions have the same sole unit so they have the same ride. It’s a super premium, super supportive ride which is suitable for neutral runners and mild over pronators.
It has a 4D Guidance System with a firmer medial post to prevent the ankle from rolling inward excessively. The midsole is made from FF Blast+ Eco, which provides a medium-firm ride.Inside the heel is a silicone gel insert which absorb shock and increase the softness.
The Kayano is best suited to recovery and easy runs at relaxed paces. It has enough cushioning for any type of run from short distances to marathons.
It has hybrid ASICSGRIP on the outsole which provides excellent durability and traction.
The main difference between these 2 version is the upper. The Kayano 31 has a brand new engineered mesh which is more breathable and moulds to your feet better. Version 31 is better suited to warm climates because it keeps your feet cooler whereas version 30 is better suited to cool climates because it’s better at keeping the heat in.
The Kayano 31 has a more padded heel tab and collar which feel plusher than the 30. Foot lockdown is excellent and there is no heel slippage in either versions. Both versions are true to size and are available in a variety of widths.
There isn’t much difference between these two versions because the 31 is just an upper update. Get the Kayano 31 if you need a cooler shoe with better breathability and more comfort. The 31 has a plusher heel and collar which feels more premium.
Get the Kayano 30 if you run in cool climates and you need the extra warmth. The Kayano 30 weighs slightly less than the 31 but it doesn’t feel as comfortable or as plush.
