The key at this point + Is this why? & Marathon Training Summary!

(bra, shorts, shoes ((sale))

****Do you notice my blog is much different now?! Let me know if you notice anything I need to fix! It was all switched over yesterday, and I adore it!

Less than six weeks to go! Iā€™m tired, and we are still a bit away from the taper. This is always the hardest point in training for meā€¦ Your body is pretty banged up, yet you still have a few more hard weeks left. At this point, the key is to take things just one day at a timeā€¦ and sometimes just one mile at a time. Looking at the upcoming weeks and seeing the massive things ahead is useless; we have to look at the day and do our best, and before we know it, it will all come together. Running has always taught me so many life lessons, and the same goes when things are really hardā€¦ Sometimes, you have to take things a day or even an hour or minute at a time. Looking too far ahead is just too much at times.

Friends that share their candy are my favorite kind of friends.

There is just something about seeing mountains reflected on water.

18 miles! The goal was to have a 7-mile tempo in there with 5 miles downhill and 2 miles flatā€¦ Which is very much like the last 7 miles of the St. George Marathon course. I really wanted to make sure I didnā€™t bomb the last two miles and hold the pace, so they were-> 6:13, 6:16, 6:10, 6:13, 6:15, 6:14, and 6:12. My body felt really good in those final miles, but I did keep dry heaving for some reasonā€¦ maybe due to this major up in carbs that Iā€™m doing before my runā€“> 90grams an hour before + a gel every 4 miles. Iā€™m determined to get my body used to running on more fuel because it will pay off majorly in the long run.

Iā€™m happy with how those paces felt because a 6:16 average or below sounds like a dream. PS Brooke made me that bracelet to wear next to my Garmin, and itā€™s my new good luck charm.

Brooke had her first official soccer game since her infection last May. It was at her last game that her heel started hurting really bad, to the point she couldnā€™t walk on it afterward. I am so grateful for her doctor, nurses, and antibiotics. She is back sprinting around that field like nothing ever happened.

The game was a bit windy ha.

Andrew was on call all weekend, but they never needed him on Saturday, so we got out for a date. We have a Cheesecake Factory now, which is a very big deal, in my opinion.

This place will always remind me of my parents. When my parents visited me at BYU Hawaii, we went to the Cheesecake Factory every day for a week straight. Also, the Cinnabon cheesecake is the best cheesecake they offer.

Knox was out with friends, and the rest of us went to Chalk the Block Saturday evening.

While we were there, a cop let Beck hold his handcuffs. He was speechless.

Family, chips & salsa were the theme of Sunday. She starts college soon and Iā€™m not okay with this.

Here is how last week looked like:

Monday: AM 9.2 miles with 4 miles at aerobic threshold (6:45 average). PM 3.2 miles @ 8:11 pace.

Tuesday: 8 miles @ 7:50 pace

Wednesday: AM 13 miles totalā€¦ 3 mile w/u, 8 miles @ 6:13 (rolling for 6 and downhill for last 2), 2 mile c/d. PM 3.2 @ 8:11 with hills.

Thursday: 8 @ 9:17 on the trails.

Friday: 10.25 miles with 3 miles at aerobic threshold (6:49 average)

Saturday: 18.2 miles w/ 7 @ 6:13 paceā€¦ 7:08 average overall.

Sunday: OFF!

Meant to hit 75 but hit 73 instead:)
