What is a Poke Bowl?
Poke means to slice or cut, so basically sliced or diced fish. Originally, this dish originated in Hawaii and it’s pronounced as Poh-Keh. The diced fish is usually tossed in a delicious marinade, something like our Tuna Tartare. A sweet, spicy, flavor packed fresh tuna that’s addictively good!
Poke became heavily influenced by Asian cuisines in Hawaii, so it became something closer to sushi. The dish has spread all over and you’ll find so many variations on it.
Initially a diced fish bowl was what it is, but it has become super popular especially when adding veggies. You’ll find Poke bowl recipes now include veggies, salads, Spicy Mayo and much more along with the fish.
