Team USA’s power couple is golden in Paris

Paris 2024 was a success for Team USA’s famous power couple. In August, indoor world champion and two-time Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall took home gold from the Paris Olympics in the women’s long jump, jumping 7.10m. Less than a month later, her husband and three-time Paralympian Hunter Woodhall has won gold in the men’s T62 400m, clocking 46.36 to mark his third consecutive podium and first-ever win in the discipline at the Paralympics on Friday.

The famous couple has a huge presence on social media, building a massive fan base over the past two Olympic and Paralympic cycles; the two 25-year-olds have broadcasted their journeys as athletes overcoming adversity while building a life together. The couple’s wedding in 2022 was featured in People magazine.

Earlier in the competition, Hunter had a disappointing sixth-place finish in the men’s T64 100m. In previous championships, the sprinter took home bronze in the men’s T62 400m in Tokyo 2020, and silver and bronze respectively in the men’s T44 200m and 400m at his Olympic debut in 2016.

At the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, an issue with his running blades forced a devastated Hunter to remove himself from the competition.

On Friday evening, he continued to reverse his previous bad luck in Paris, taking home a bronze medal in the mixed universal 4x100m relay for Team USA shortly after his win in the T62 400m.

Tara is the reigning world indoor champion in the long jump. At her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, the Texas native placed sixth–and has been constantly improving as an athlete since.

In 2023, she won gold at the the U.S. indoor nationals, but was stripped of her title due to a drug test that came back positive for THC following her win. She came back later that year to take gold at the outdoor national championships in Eugene, Ore., in July, followed by silver at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

The Lululemon-sponsored athletes’ fan base will undoubtedly continue to grow after they celebrate their victories together in the city of love.
