Actual torture + REALLY exciting family news!

(tank)

This workout was actual torture on the legs (and brain with the 4:45 am alarm clock ha). We started by running 7.5 miles up American Fork Canyon. This canyon is beyond gorgeous and it was so fun to run in different area than normal.

GLOVE WEATHER has entered the conversation.

We did a 7-mile tempo with 4 of the miles screaming downhill (5:56, 5:54, 5:56, 6:07) followed by 3 miles flat (6:18, 6:28, 6:20). Judging by the fact that I was about to scrap the tempo because of how awful my legs felt after climbing up 1300 ft in the first 7.5 miles, I’m pretty happy with this!

I was wiped by the end of this run. I couldn’t have done another mile if I wanted to.

A nap later on was an actual requirement. When I lived at my parents’ house with Brooke when she was a baby, I would get up daily to run at this time and then stay out late at night… I can barely manage to do this one day now!

It was straight to soccer and Beck ran his laps at the fields during games.

We, of course, ate really delicious food over the weekend.

The girls painted their room green and now have bunk beds so that was a very big highlight from our weekend!

Andrew brought out a shirt that made my eyes tear up… how does it go so fast?

And for a summary of last week’s training:

My mileage dropped, but my climbing doubled this last week:)

Monday: 9 miles with 4 miles @ 6:44 pace and 45 minutes on the bike right after.

Tuesday: 8 miles @ 8:18 pace

Wednesday: 12.4 miles total with 6 x downhill mile repeats (5:40, 5:34, 5:26, 5:22, 5:16, 5:09). 45 minutes on the bike a few hours after.

Thursday: 8.5 miles on trails @ 9:30 average pace.

Friday: 10 miles w/5 of those miles @ 6:46 pace.

Saturday: 18 miles total @ 7:14 average. 7.5 up the canyon, 3.5 miles easy down, 7 miles fast (6:07 average) with 4 downhill in the canyon and 3 flat.

Now for the actual best thing I could ever share… MY NIECE! She is going on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to BULGARIA AND GREECE! She will learn Bulgarian (and some Greek!), and I am so beyond jealous she will get to spend 1.5 years there. I’m not okay with her leaving me but I guess we will have to go visit her! Finding plane tickets now…
