Some light yoga and a walk with Beck to the park were just what I needed yesterday. My brain requires fresh air each day.
Walking is really, really nice. I’m kind of afraid I’ll never go back to training hard again after remembering how nice it is to wake up two hours later each morning and move slowly. I don’t like how I felt in those final weeks of training this go around. I didn’t feel strong, was moodier than ever (sorry, Andrew), and wasn’t looking forward to my runs like I normally do. I’ve simply done too many marathons in a row. I don’t know how people do so many more than me in a row without getting burned out?!
My heart.
I took my bike in to get it tuned up and fitted to me.
Does my bike need one of these?? All of the stats are quite tempting, but I guess I should make sure I really like it again before I take out a loan for this new hobby.
A few hours later, I went to Athlecare. Next week, I am using this thing below to test for imblances and weaknesses. They will then create a strength plan for me to get everything working properly so my hamstring doesn’t keep breaking down. Justin and I also talked a lot about variability and how a break from running will be so good for avoiding plateauing and injuries. In 2021, I took a month off for my plantar fasciitis, did a lot of biking and strength training, and ended up with my best race a few months later. Our bodies thrive on variation, and I can’t wait to experiment with it all this time.
Lasagna Soup was made for dinner and as you know, lasagna is my favorite food so this was an A+ for me.
Beck gave it two thumbs up:
When I told Knox about the marathon and dropping out, he said, “At least you preheated it.” (If you remember, a few weeks ago, he said I was going to cook the marathon because that is the current slang for I would do well).
Definitely preheated St. George 2024.

What are you making for dinner tonight?
Tell me about what you do for strength training? What has worked and what hasn’t worked for you?
Ever feared you wouldn’t go back after a big race?
Tell me about your run today because I’ll be living through you!
