10 Best Travel Essentials From Everlane’s New Fall Collection

As a fashion enthusiast and travel editor, I know that the ideal fall travel wardrobe features a selection of versatile items you can style in a number of ways, and Everlane is one of my favorite retailers for the job. On Tuesday, the brand dropped a new collection of Western-inspired pieces that seem to be tailor-made for autumn layering, and with a new array of jackets, sweaters, and shoes to choose from, I’m in shopping heaven.

I make a point to prioritize sustainability in my closet, so I’m having a field day with this new collection, and after scanning through the offerings, I’ve selected the 10 pieces I would (in a dream world) add to my ideal packing list for the fall. From a lightweight trench to boots with just the right amount of heel, read on to find everything you need to channel your inner cowgirl regardless of where you’re traveling next.

The Midi Quilted Liner

Everlane

The chill of fall practically swept in overnight in New York, so I’m now in need of a lightweight layer to keep me warm in the shade and comfortable in the sun. This quilted jacket is the ideal choice with its endlessly cool, slightly boxy fit and deep front pockets. But, I especially like that this coat is light enough to pack down with ease, taking up minimal space in my suitcase while still keeping me cozy.

The Outlaw Boots

Everlane

Boots may not be the first sightseeing footwear option that comes to mind, but the low heels on these perfectly Western boots make them uniquely suited for the job. Pull-on tabs ensure they’ll easily slip on and off in a hurry if I decide to wear them to the airport. They’ve even been constructed at a tannery with impressive environmentally-friendly practices according to the Leather Working Group, an organization focused on ensuring ethical methods of working with leather. They’re available in three shades of brown, with sizes ranging from 5 to 11 (including half sizes), and they’ll be comfortable for full-day wear. But most importantly, they will look incredible with everything I have packed in my suitcase.

The Gardener Overalls

Everlane

I’m a sucker for a great pair of overalls, and the loose-fitting, wide-leg Gardener Overalls are destined to have a spot on my next big trip. They’ll make for an incredible layering piece, offering endless styling potential, and I can already see myself pairing them with cardigans, turtlenecks, and even The Midi Quilted Liner Jacket on colder days. With ample pockets, I’ll have an excess of storage for my must-haves if I choose to go sightseeing with a smaller bag — or even none at all.

The Oversized Anorak

Everlane

A trench coat has been on my to-buy list for as long as I can remember, and this rustic Anorak is a dream come true for all my fall travels, whether I’m going away for a long weekend in the mountains or staying in a fashion-forward city. It’s available in both khaki and black which will pair well with everything from overalls to maxi dresses, and the water-resistant exterior is just icing on the cake to keep me covered during rainy fall days. After all, I can never seem to remember to pack an umbrella while traveling.

The Oversized Turtleneck

Everlane

Whether I’m in the mood to wear a sweater dress or an oversized knit, this drapey turtleneck has endless styling possibilities, and just the right amount of Western flair. The front of the sweater is outfitted with two deep pockets at the base, while a mock neck provides extra warmth for the fall. I can see myself wearing this with anything from a pair of wide-leg trousers to a simple black mini skort, and for that reason alone, it has earned a spot in my shopping cart and in my suitcase. The only question is whether I’ll snag it in the bone or black colorway.

The Unisex Denim Ranch Jacket

Everlane

Trends come and go, but a well-made denim jacket will truly never go out of style. This rancher-style coat is tailor-made for fall, and with the oversized fit and corduroy collar, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for to replace my current, too-small denim jacket. Made from a high-quality organic cotton fabric, it’s casual enough to wear to the airport for a long travel day, but I trust I won’t grow tired of it if I end up wearing it everyday during a trip.

The Way-high Gardener Jeans

Everlane

Since I can’t get enough of the wide-leg design on the Gardener Overalls, it’s really no wonder I’m also eyeing a pair of the Way-high Gardener Jeans to add to my fall travel wardrobe. The high-waisted cut is flattering (and shouldn’t dig into my skin if I’m sitting for an extended period of time), while the flared silhouette looks excellent with cowboy boots, sneakers, and beyond. And since they come in the perfect dark wash, these will be the only jeans I need on any trip, no matter where I’m headed.

The Waffle Henley

Everlane

Open my dresser drawers and you’ll find no shortage of white and cream-colored tops. But just because I already have a few, that doesn’t mean I can’t make room for this cozy Waffle Henley that will act as the best base layer on chilly days. The relaxed fit of this top is comfy for long-haul flights or road trips, and whether you pair it with jeans or beneath a pair of overalls, you’ll never look unpolished again. I’m personally drawn to the bone shade, but it’s also available in three other fall-ready colors, including pale green, gray and black.

The Boyfriend Shirt

Everlane

Seeing as I grew up in New Hampshire, it should come as no surprise that flannel has long been a mainstay in my closet. So, this Boyfriend Shirt is a natural addition that’s far more understated than the droves of plaid I’ve collected in the past. The thicker fabric is cozier than a cardigan but more packable than a jacket, plus it boasts the oversized fit I’ve come to love. I’m sure the style will rack up plenty of compliments when I go home during the holidays, but for now, it will keep me feeling like myself while wandering the streets of New York City.

The Fatigue Barrel Pants

Everlane

I can admit that I have one too many pairs of jeans in my closet, so this fall I’ve made it my mission to seek out another comfortable pant style that I’ll be able to wear consistently. Lucky for me, these Fatigue Barrel Pants fit the bill for $110 — and I always find pants to be a worthwhile investment. Coming in sizes ranging 00 to 16, these high-rise pants feature the curved leg design that has become so popular this season, but with a sustainable twist since they’re made with the comfiest blend of organic cotton and linen. Designed with a breathable, relaxed fit, these pants nail exactly what I’m looking for in my travel wardrobe — comfort and versatility.

Everlane has no shortage of travel-friendly wardrobe pieces deeply discounted on-site right now. If you’re looking to build your seasonal wardrobe on a budget, keep reading to find more must-have finds, starting at $29.
