Why You Will Love this Recipe

If you like making your own candy instead of buying in them in the store I have lots of homemade candy recipes on this site including Homemade Twix Bars, and, homemade Almond Joys.

They are great not only for Halloween but you can eat these any time of the year and enjoy them.

Ingredients Needed

  • Candy corn is a popular confectionery product that is often associated with Halloween. It is a type of candy that is made from sugar, corn syrup, and other ingredients
  • Creamy peanut butter is a popular and delicious spread that is enjoyed by many people around the world. It is made from roasted peanuts that have been ground into a smooth paste, and often contains added ingredients such as salt, sugar, and oil to enhance its flavor and texture.
  • Dark chocolate is a type of chocolate that contains a high percentage of cocoa solids and little to no milk solids. It is typically known for its intense, slightly bitter taste, which makes it a favorite among chocolate lovers who appreciate its rich flavor and health benefits.

How to Make Homemade Butterfingers

Step 1: Line an 8×8 or 9×9 inch pan with wax paper.

Step 2: Melt the candy corn in the microwave in a medium bowl, stirring every 30 seconds. Continue heating for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Stir in the peanut butter until equally distributed and smooth.

Step 3: Pour into prepared pan and smooth. Place in the freezer for 10-20 minutes until firm.

Peanut butter and candy corns spread out in a pan.

In the meantime line a large baking sheet with wax paper.

Step 4: Take the chilled bars out of the pan and cut them into mini Butterfinger size bars (I just eyeballed it – you can too!).

Cut butterfinger bars on parchment paper.

Step 5: Melt the chocolate in a clean medium bowl in the microwave stirring every 30 seconds and continuing to heat for additional 30 second bursts until smooth. Using a fork, dip each Butterfinger into the chocolate, turning to cover completely. Take the bar out of the chocolate with fork and tap lightly on the side of the bowl so that excess chocolate falls off.

Recipe Tips

Place on the wax paper-lined baking sheet. Continue with Butterfingers until all are dipped. (If at any point your chocolate becomes too hard to dip, simply return it to the microwave and heat for another 10-15 seconds and stir. Do this throughout the process as needed.)

When all bars have been dipped, place them in the freezer for an additional 5-10 minutes. Enjoy.

How do I store leftovers?

Always store leftovers in clean, food-grade containers. The type of container doesn’t really matter. Use zip lock, glass, plastic,  whatever!  Make sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container.

Recipe FAQs

Do candy corns melt?

You might be asking yourself do candy corns melt? The answer is yes! All you have to do is place them in a microwave safe bowl (it’s like melting chocolate chips in the microwave) and microwave them on high for 1 minute. Remove the dish from the microwave and stir until all the candy has melted. Pretty cool huh?

What is the inside of butterfingers made of?

Butterfinger candy bars are a popular treat enjoyed by many people. The filling of a Butterfinger bar is made from a mixture of peanut butter and a crispy, crunchy center made from cornflakes. The peanut butter is combined with sugar, corn syrup, and other ingredients to create a smooth, creamy consistency. The cornflakes are crushed and mixed into the peanut butter mixture, giving the filling its distinctive crispy texture.
