Pueblo Bonito Vantage is Coming to San Miguel de Allende

It’s not easy to open a large hotel in San Miguel de Allende, the popular Spanish Colonial city in central Mexico. Narrow streets, densely packed buildings, and and a UNESCO World Heritage designation mean that finding a space for new construction (and getting approved) is a major challenge for developers. Now we’ve got a new major hotel on the way though: Pueblo Bonito Vantage, opening up in February of 2025.

The last major opening in the city was Live Aqua, part of the Travelty Collection of Mexico’s largest hotel chain. Many years before that the Rosewood San Miguel arrived, getting around the building problem by taking over the real estate of a previous hotel and starting over.

Pueblo Bonito Vantage’s strategy also relied on being a bit outside the UNESCO zone, in this case in front of the Zeferino Gutierrez Park. near the upscale art market in an old textile factory: La Fabrica. So art lovers won’t have to go far from their room to go shopping. They’ll also be able to treat the complex as a second set of dining options, with several restaurants and a coffee shop.

It’s a pleasant stroll to the center of the city from here, but many guests will probably choose to hop on a shuttle or get a taxi instead, which will only take a few minutes.

Unveiling Pueblo Bonito Vantage

Pueblo Bonito will be a familiar name to many of the readers of Luxury Latin America. The company’s luxury Mazatlan resort is the best in the city and it has won a wall full of awards from the glossy travel magazines. We’ve also featured their Towers at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica resort within a resort in Los Cabos, next to the Quivira Golf Club

This is their first foray inland, but they know plenty about construction (they’re also real estate developers) and plenty about pleasing both domestic and foreign hotel guests. The property should be able to hit the ground running from the start and we’re looking forward to checking it out when the doors open.

The hotel itself will have 111 rooms, which is huge by San Miguel de Allende standards, and that’s not the end of it. The 11 suites may not be enough for those willing to upgrade, but 45 owned condos and villas occupy part of the property and some of those will rotate through a rental pool.

While many boutique hotels in this historic city simply don’t have the room to offer a lot of public spaces, this resort-style hotel will be a different story, according to the plans:

The luxury hotel’s guest services and amenities include an event garden, spa, pool, gym, and meeting rooms. There are three hotel room types, with most rooms featuring views of the picturesque Parish of San Miguel de Allende.

Yes, like the Rosewood on the other side of town, Pueblo Bonito Vantage will offer a distant view of the city from some of its public spaces and rooms. That should make it equally famous on Instagram and a favorite spot for the magazine photographers and fashion shoot arrangers that have fallen in love with SMA amidst its frequent shout-outs as one of the “best cities in the world.”

Rooms and Restaurants

We’re only in the renderings stage at this point, so many of the press materials show the city rather than the hotel, but we do know what will be in the rooms already. They’ll be on par or above anything else available now on that count, with Bose speakers, Nespresso coffee makers, high-end toiletries, a pillow menu, plush bathrobes, and 24-hour room service.

You’ll be able to order drinks and food poolside, always great on vacation, then there are several other outlets joining the all-day one serving all three meals. La Frida will be a gourmet Mexican spot open for dinner only, while the rooftop bar with panoramic views will be serving small plates with their cocktails and Mexican wine. A lobby coffee shop will work for casual bites in the morning.

This will surely be another popular wedding spot for the domestic crowd, so there’s a large outdoor terrace area for events and meeting space for 240. The hotel plans to focus on gastronomy events for guests like cooking classes, tequila and wine tastings, and a special private chef’s table dinner for small groups.

We’ve written a lot about excursions around San Miguel de Allende, from ancient ruins to wineries near San Miguel to horseback riding. You’ll be able to book many of these through the concierge before or during your trip to go beyond the historic center. We’d also suggest an art tour since you’re already right next to the main gallery collection.

Pueblo Bonito Vantage is now taking reservations from February 15 onward. See more details at the official website.
