Running is fun pain-free. Running is not fun when in pain. Take the time off if something is hurting, I promise it’s worth it!
A run with Emilee to start my week. It had been months since our last one. I was worried I’d be huffing and puffing the whole time but I only was for 60% of the run;). Getting back into running shape is the name of the game for me now (but slowly). Emilee asked what I’m thinking about for next year and I told her one of the distances at Big Sur is calling my name… will anyone be there this year?
I have the perfect winter staying healthy as a runner tip. START WITH STRENGTH. This will be the new key for me. After a cold run, I sprint to the shower and forget all about my strength training goals so doing it before the run is going to be a must. Doing this also warms your body up for what it is about to do out there so it makes it easier to get out the door. I did this Pilates class yesterday (along with all of my PT exercises):
We weren’t planning on putting Christmas up yesterday but that is what we spent the bulk of the day doing. Seeing him on the roof frightens me beyond belief every time.
I’ve been thinking about tomato soup for a few days now so we had that along with grilled cheese sandwiches. It was heavenly.
Now for today’s tangents:
-When you haven’t used your Garmin in a very long time and it takes quite some time to locate the satellites…
-We found a 1/2 lb Reese’s. Knox was so happy.
*Beck fell asleep on me and Skye next to me at Disneyland on some chairs as we were waiting for Andrew and the kids on Indiana Jones hahah. We were pooped by the end of the day.
*My biggest Disneyland tip is to not look at your bank account for as many days as it takes so that your Disney charges are too far down to see on your statement… I do not want the knowledge of how much money we spent on food. Ignorance is bliss.
*My favorite ride was Rise of the Resistance. I read that it cost $450 million to build and I fully believe it.
*Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride broke down when we were in the middle of it and so we saw what it looked like with all of the lights on… not as fun haha.
*I don’t think I could ever tire of run views like this.
*Ed Eyestone’s quote about them smelling like pizza as they finished haha.
*Did you see that Habtom Samuel lost one of his shoes halfway through his 10k race at the NCAA Championships and took SECOND. It came off because a different runner spiked him with his spikes and so it also cut his foot up while taking off the shoe. I cannot even imagine doing what he did. I would have been on the ground crying.
*Do the stools at the counter of Home Alone drive anyone else crazy? How could you sit comfortably at the counter with you knees jammed into the cupboards like this?

Strength training… Before or after the run? What works better for you?
What are you making for dinner tonight?
Anything in a recent movie you watched that drove you crazy?
Give me a tangent, please!
