What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was living for my decreased kidney transplant donor. She lost her life, so I was determined to live the very best I could in her honor, which meant losing weight and treating my body like a temple.

How did you change your eating habits?

I am vegan currently, but at the start of my journey I wasn’t. I started eating more Whole Foods, like grilled chicken, veggies, and garden burgers. Not eliminating any food at the time but using moderation instead was key.

Now I’m vegan. I make soups and eat veggies and vegan burgers. I also eat lots of beans for protein and have almond ice cream for a sweet treat.

How often did you work out?
Seven days a week, but not every day is the same workout. Two days a week, I take it much easier. I may just jump, walk my dog, or lift.

What is your workout routine?
I walk and jump rope every day and use the elliptical machine nearly every day. I also lift 3-4 times a week.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 230 pounds
Current weight: 173 pounds

What is your height?
5’7″

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
In 2021, I started but lost motivation. Then, in 2022, I started to get serious. My total journey took around three years.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t have any surgery.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Don’t be hard on yourself. One day of eating unhealthy food or missing a workout will not hurt.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?

Small changes lead to big results. Start simple. Walk on your lunch break for five minutes to start, then increase your time each week.  Change your eating habits. If you used to eat two big burgers, eat one. Cut the order of fries in half or get a small instead of a large. Believe that you can do this and make it a priority to move.
