2025 is set to be a big year for MAN v FAT’s rugby programme, with a host of new clubs to be launched up and down the country.
The rollout of new locations follows a really successful early spell of delivering the programme in Birmingham, Cheltenham and Leicester.
A large number of weight loss percentage landmarks have been hit by our first players in MAN v FAT Rugby, as the programme continues to help blokes improve their health and wellbeing.
One of our early rugby members is Nathan Wright, who participates in our Birmingham club.
Nathan has already hit his 10% weight loss achievement and is closing in on his pre-MAN v FAT target of getting under 100kg.
“I’ve struggled with my weight all my adult life,” he explained. “A mate of mine joined the MAN v FAT Football programme, achieved amazing results, and was a big advocate for the club.
“I haven’t played rugby since school, and while I’m more of a football fan, I’ve always been more interested in playing rugby than football. So when I saw the chance to join, I signed up straight away.”
The challenge of MAN v FAT Rugby has clearly ticked the right boxes for Nathan, who has now shed 13.2kg in his time with us.
The collaborative atmosphere at the club has played a big part in keeping him on track and ensuring the weight keeps dropping off!
He added: “I’m now at the lowest weight I’ve been in over five years. I’ve tried dieting plenty of times before but could never stick with it long enough to see proper results. What’s made the difference with MAN v FAT Rugby is the mix of team camaraderie and competition.
“I’m naturally competitive, so having goals to aim for and awards to win has really kept me motivated. On top of that, I want to do my bit to help the team win, both on the pitch and on the scales. Tracking my calories has been a huge part of my success too. Using an app to stick to a daily calorie target and honestly recording everything I eat has helped me stay focused and on track.
“The best part of MAN v FAT Rugby is definitely the people. We have such a laugh both on and off the pitch, and the team WhatsApp is full of great banter, advice and support. It’s been brilliant meeting such a great group and doing something that’s just for me.”
As the January New Year resolution window approaches, there will be plenty of men thinking about joining either the Rugby or the Football programmes. What would Nathan say to those considering getting started?
He said: “MAN v FAT has completely changed how I think about weight loss. It’s not a sprint – it’s a journey.
“Every loss, no matter how small, is worth celebrating. The programme has given me the drive to stick with it long term and keep chipping away at my goals bit by bit.”
MAN v FAT is launching rugby clubs in Bristol, Bradford Castleford, Chiswick, Edinburgh and Wigan in early 2025, with hopefully more to follow!
