From 124M Biscoff Cookies, to 420K Glasses of Wine, American Airlines Reveals 2024 Trends by the Numbers

Move over, Spotify Wrapped.

Closing out 2024, American Airlines shared its “Wrapped” data with year-end information regarding its passengers’ habits and preferences from in-flight dining to popular destinations.

“As we make our final descent on 2024, American Airlines will have flown more than 2.1 million flights across 1.8 billion miles — enough to go around the Earth nearly 74,000 times,” the airline  shared.

The millions of flight miles took passengers around the globe, and interesting trends emerged among passenger segments. Couples who traveled together frequented Cancun, Mexico; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Las Vegas, NV more than other destinations, according to the airline.

And when it comes to food on board, in 2024, the airline served up over 124 million packs of Biscoff cookies to hungry passengers and over 420,000 glasses of complimentary wine in their Admirals Club lounges.

For fliers who decided to redeem hard-earned American Advantage frequent flyer miles, Orlando, Boston, and Austin were the top three destinations. Interestingly, the airline identified that people going to either Athens, Greece; Rome, Italy, and Naples, Italy were most likely to book their flight far in advance.

While on the plane, in an effort to pass time using the in-flight entertainment, passengers chose action movies as the top genre, and comedy as the top genre for television shows.

American Airlines is a member of the OneWorld alliance, which provides passengers the opportunity to fly on partner airlines such as British Airways or Qantas. American shared that travelers utilized this expanded network, and that Manila, Amman, and Hyderabad were the top partner destinations.

American Airlines has been on the move with adding new flight routes for travelers in 2025. These new routes include Dallas / Fort Worth to Venice, Italy, as well as Chicago, IL (ORD) to Milan, Italy.
