Picture yourself curled up under a heated blanket, immersed in a really good book, while snow gathers on the porch of your very own tiny house. Nothing but $30,000 and a small piece of property stand between you and the fantasy of owning your own hygge hideaway.
Because Amazon sells entire houses — flat-packed buildings that arrive ready to assemble like Ikea furniture at your door. So, in a way, buying a tiny cabin to live out your cozy dreams is as easy as purchasing a new sweater: one click of a button and voilà, you’re a homeowner.
2-story Tiny Cabin
From the Chicago-based Amazon seller, Agilityinc, this two-story tiny house measures 20 by 40 feet, with a small living area, kitchen, and bathroom on the bottom floor and a bedroom upstairs. Design highlights include two sliding glass doors that flood the interior with natural light and an outdoor spiral staircase that connects the spacious porch with a beautiful rooftop terrace. The seller notes that the buyer is responsible for assembling the structure (using the provided instructions), adding electrical components, ventilating, and ensuring it sits on a level and stable foundation.
So far, only dreamers have left reviews on the cabin: “This has to be one of the most appealing tiny homes on the market — and cheap,” one wrote. “Who knows? Once I get a piece of land … I’ll definitely have this on my radar.”
Another said, “I love this house [and] I want to buy one soon.”
Travel + Leisure has not tested this cabin or any tiny home sold on Amazon. Whether you’re just window shopping or looking for a real mini getaway, read on for more options.
2-story Container Home
This house can be customized to the hilt, but all versions take inspiration from the shipping container home trend: you can play around with shapes, layouts, lighting, and colors. The smaller 20-foot size home starts at around $30,000. Someone who purchased it wrote a five-star review and said, “I was initially worried about ordering my container house directly from this seller because of concerns about scams, especially since prices varied so much for different models and I had to place [the] order directly and not on this platform. I’m so glad I took the leap! The quality is outstanding, and the customer service was exceptional.”
2-story Prefab Tiny Home
Measuring 25 feet long by 20 feet wide, this two-story tiny home has enough space for three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a kitchen and living room. There’s also a large outdoor deck on your way to the top story. The floor-to-ceiling windows will allow plenty of sunlight in, too.
