Runners celebrate birthdays a bit differently than most humans… A run in way too cold of temperatures, protein drinks, and carbs. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Happy birthday, Jess!
A normal day around these parts for us:
Used my sister’s coupons (it’s called the Starving Student Card for locals) to go to a bounce house for free.
And we finished off the evening with some homemade pasta with alfredo sauce (if you love alfredo, this is the recipe for you) and shrimp. It hit the spot.
Somehow it’s already tangent time, so let’s jump in:
*Winter running= I am fine with my legs being free outside in the cold air and my hands/head sweating from being too warm. I save hand warmers for the days I know my hands will freeze, and I’m going out for longer than usual.
*Andrew hadn’t had an Oatmeal Creme Pie since his packed lunch days in elementary school, but he saw the double-decker version and had to try it. 5 stars from Andrew and Knox.
*The kids are happy to have snow in the yard so they can do their classic snow angel intervals during their hot tubbing time. I try to seek to understand others, but this is one thing I cannot and will not ever understand.
*Andrew read that when people squat like this throughout their day, they tend to live longer, so don’t mind us doing this daily.
*I’m grateful that the kids never get thirsty on our winter walks. I can’t tell you how many times snow has saved me mid-run when all of the drinking fountains are turned off for the winter.
*I am beyond excited about the men’s and women’s pro field for the 2025 Boston Marathon. KEIRA D’AMATO has the 5th fastest time on the list, which has me predicting she will podium. And I’ll link back to this post when it happens:)
*I didn’t blog about our weekend, but we were home for 99% of the time, and it felt so good. We had all sorts of plans to ski and run errands, but mostly just snuggled. I declared this is happening much more often in 2025.
*Cottage Cheese Banana Bread! It was so good! Less sweet than the classic banana bread but you could always add more maple syrup if you want it sweeter. I’ll be making this again.
*Beck even understands that mom is in a better mood when the overhead lighting isn’t on, and he uses the lamps instead;)
