Outdoorsy hotel company Trailborn today opened an outpost in Williams, Arizona, near the Grand Canyon.
Trailborn Grand Canyon—a renovated Route 66 lodge with 96 rooms—has chic American West style, a Southwestern grill called Miss Kitty’s (opening next month), plus a pool, hot tub, firepit, and bocce ball court. The whole place is giving Old West saloon, which is only fitting in a national park-bordering town known for campy, retro-chic neon signage, and diners.
The new hotel also has a gathering spot called Camp Hall, where “guests receive essentials to enhance their outdoor adventures, including bespoke Field Guides, bicycles for exploring the grounds and nearby town, branded coolers, Nocs binoculars, a custom scavenger hunt board for kids, and a knowledgeable team dedicated to personalizing each stay,” according to a press release shared with Travel+Leisure.
While the design of the bedrooms is rooted in Route 66 nostalgia, they also feature modern amenities like walk-in showers, Grown Alchemist toiletries, smart TVs, and Tivoli Bluetooth speakers.
Williams is a perfect homebase for travelers headed to the Grand Canyon; the hotel is less than a mile from the Grand Canyon Railway depot. The train brings travelers from Williams to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. The hotel is also a 60-mile drive to the South Rim. For travelers who need more help planning their outdoor adventure, Trailborn Grand Canyon’s concierge team can help arrange excursions, including guided hikes and Grand Canyon helicopter rides.
“Trailborn Grand Canyon is on Route 66 in the heart of Williams, Arizona—a town with so much character and history—and it’s the perfect jumping-off point for an incredible Grand Canyon adventure,” says Mike Weiss, co-CEO of Trailborn, in an interview with T+L.

Trailborn is expanding quickly: the Grand Canyon property will be its fifth hotel. (Trailborn Rocky Mountains opened in Estes Park, Colorado, in December 2023, revamping a ‘50s motor lodge into an eclectic, 40-room resort in the Rockies.) At the beginning of the year, Trailborn joined forces with Marriott, which means Marriott Bonvoy members can book Trailborn hotels with Bonvoy points.

“We want to make it easier for our guests to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing comfort or beautiful design. Teaming up with Marriott with millions of members helps us accomplish this on a larger scale, while continuing as an independent brand, and offering our unique approach to outdoor hospitality to even more travelers,” Weiss says.
Rooms at Trailborn Grand Canyon start at $131, and you can book your stay at trailborn.com.
