Urfan on track for weight loss success

At MAN v FAT, we know that losing weight isn’t always easy – life gets in the way, right?

Despite that, we constantly hear of amazing achievements by the men in the programme up and down the country.

Every pound of weight lost is a success and, each week, our community loses in excess of 250 stone between them.

For guys that have been in the programme a little longer, ticking off those 5% landmarks is a big motivator.

One of our members, Urfan Khan, is closing in on his 25% weight loss achievement, something he has achieved since getting started in MAN v FAT Woking in May 2024.

The early months of his time with us were funded by Surrey County Council and he has gone on to become a key member in his KFC Wimbledon team.

More recently, he has stayed on track with his weight loss whilst also observing the month of Ramadan.

We caught up with Urfan to discuss how he managed to balance his religious commitments whilst also keeping focussed on his weight loss.

1) Tell us why you decided to get started with MAN v FAT?

“I used to be a gym member, but motivation was my arch-nemesis. That was until I discovered Man v Fat – a game-changer that made fitness enjoyable!”

2) How has your experience been with the programme so far?

“I started with the Woking group and was hooked from day one. Now, I’m also part of the Guildford squad, and it’s amazing to connect with like-minded people who share my passion for health and wellness.”

3) What makes the programme work for you?

“The camaraderie is unbeatable – I’ve made fantastic friends, and we’re all rooting for each other. Whether it’s winning on the pitch or crushing our weight loss goals, we’re in this together.”

4) How did you manage to balance keeping on track with your weight loss and the month of Ramadan?

“Ramadan presented a unique challenge, but it also taught me invaluable discipline. By controlling cravings during fasting hours, I’ve been able to shed pounds – not just for myself, but for my team too.”

5) How important is observing Ramadan to you?

“For Muslims, Ramadan is a sacred month that detoxes both body and soul. It’s a time for spiritual growth, self-reflection, and renewal.”

6) How supportive were your teammates through your time off MAN v FAT?

“My teammates are my rock, and Sam from Guildford is the ultimate motivator. He’s been instrumental in helping me stay on track and crush my goals.”

A big congratulations to Urfan and well done to all of our Muslim members who have observed Ramadan alongside their time at MAN v FAT – you have done amazingly well!
