A perspective switch… I’ll give you Andrew’s phone number + Tangents!

I didn’t run again… but I’m hoping to today! Getting enough sleep (rough night with kids) was more important so I took that option!

I really don’t have much from our day besides an after-school snack with Brooke and our grocery store sushi roll.

And Beck mastering the skill of winking.

Race day is looking hotter and hotter; I’ve got a few kiddos with colds and scratchy throats, and my hamstring is not super happy. I was walking around my house moping (Deena’s book couldn’t even pull me out of this one) when Andrew called me. He was working on an extremely sad case.

Talk about a perspective shift. My family is healthy, and we have shelter and food. I really couldn’t be luckier because of these things.

Running is what helps me cope with real problems in life. I’m not going to let it cause problems in my life.

So, if running is ever causing you stress and you need a perspective switch, I’ll give you Andrew’s phone number…

Running is our FUN! If you are running St. George this weekend and the temperatures are freaking you out… Control what you can and let go of the rest. Keep your palms cool by pouring water on them at the aid stations. Don’t forget your salt pills. Grab the bags of ice they hand out and stuff them in your sports bras. Dump water on your head early and often. Wear sunglasses or a visor. And if the temperatures make you uncomfortable, running the race is not worth it. There will always be another one (I promise, I’ve dropped out of many over the years because they weren’t right for me).

If you are running St. George, pull out all of the positive energy possible from the gorgeous scenery and the crowds. You’ve proved over and over again that you can do hard things throughout your training, and you’ll do it again on Saturday.

I’m excited for year 7 to add to my collage!

And for a few more tangents:

*When Beretta was younger, she would jump up on the tramp with the kids every time they were on there to join in on the fun. We have to lift her up but she still loves being up there.

*Brooke saw an old picture of my watch and called it Wonky. I LOVED THIS WATCH MORE THAN ANY OTHER WATCH I’VE EVER HAD. It was so reliable.

Brooke requested Beignets! We haven’t had them for years and they tasted as good as ever.

*I was wrong the other day… I’ll actually be aiming for 496 grams of carbs per day for 3 days from the Featherstone Nutrition Carb Calculator. Aka 10 bagels a day;).

*Spain carb loading was the best carb loading. A+ for me.

*The Athleta 25% off sale is almost over! I have this top from a few years ago and every winter I get questions on it… it saves me on the really cold mornings with this neck:

*Packing has begun!
