A Symphony The Sea: Aspects Of Brighton Beach

Nestled along the English coast, I always loved staying in Brighton – and I’m clearly not alone, as it captivates millions of visitors every year. It has a vibe all its own, and as I wandered around, I discovered eclectic shops, fantastic restaurants, and beautifully designed boutique hotels.

My favourite place is the wonderfully unique beach. Brighton’s beach is a sea of gently rustling pebbles that slide and crunch underfoot, stretching toward a pale blue horizon that seems to go on forever – all wrapped in a fresh, salty breeze and dotted with the occasional, often awkwardly placed, candy-striped deck chair.

The Beach in Summer

On warmer days, the crowds pour in, and so do the parasols, all jostling for space beside the calm water. Cafés buzz with life, and the queues for ice cream stretch into foot-achingly long waits.

The Fairground Rides

Whoops and cheers from the vintage-style funfair echo across the beach, filling the air with excitement. Perched on the new pier, the brightly striped helter-skelter stands tall and proud, the waltzer’s lights flash in a dizzying blur, and children cling to the ornate carousel as it spins, casting a warm pinkish glow.

Brighton West Beach

The west offers a more tranquil escape, where the beach falls silent except for the rhythmic surge and retreat of the waves. Clusters of stately hotels stand proudly along the coast, keeping watch over the long, foamy shoreline.

The Old Pier

As the sun dipped lower, the slowly crumbling Old Pier emerged as a dark silhouette, wrapped in swirling flocks of roosting starlings. They buzzed and pulsed like bees searching for the perfect resting spot, set against a backdrop of glowing orange skies.

When summer fades, quietness settles in—but not stillness—as the sea grows restless, stirred by a sharp, salty breeze. Lathery sea foam clings to the edges of grey-tinged waves, marking the changing season.

Why I Love Brighton

Located in East Sussex, England, Brighton was once an ancient fishing village. In the 18th century, it became a health resort as people felt the sea air was healing, hence its nickname “Dr Brighton.”

Today the famous city is kaleidoscope of colours, incredible energy, and eclectic charm. From its iconic seafront to its bustling lanes, this seaside gem captivates the imagination and leaves a lingering mark on all who wanders its storied streets!

My Favourite Places in Brighton

I personally love the historic North Lanes and they are my must-always see when I’m here – a labyrinth of narrow alleyways, quirky boutiques, and artisanal cafes that pulse with creativity and charm. To me, every corner offers a new surprise, from the colourful murals adorning the walls to the eclectic mix of street performers and musicians.

My other favourite places include the iconic Royal Pavilion, the South Lanes, lined with antique shops, jewellery stores, and boutique shops, British Airways i360, which has superb panoramic views and its many organic and vegan restaurants. I’d highly recommend Food for Friends and Terre à Terre. Enjoy this intriguing part of Southern England!
