On Tuesday, Athletics Canada announced the names of 48 athletes who will make up Team Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, taking place from July 26 to August 11. The team will consist of 25 women and 23 men, including 22 returning Olympic team members and 26 athletes making their debut.
Canada’s six Olympic medalists from Tokyo 2020 will be returning for Paris 2024, headlined by decathlon gold medallist Damian Warner and 200m champion Andre De Grasse. They will be joined by Evan Dunfee (20K race walk), Moh Ahmed (men’s 5,000m), and the men’s 4x100m relay team, consisting of the same silver-medal-winning quartet of De Grasse, Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, and Jerome Blake, with the addition of first-time Olympians Duan Asemota, Malachi Murray, Elizier Adjibi as alternates.

Paris 2024 will be the first Olympic Games since Rio 2016 where Canada will send three Olympic relay teams: men’s 4x100m, women’s 4x100m and women’s 4x400m. (Only the men’s 4x100m relay and women’s 4x400m compete at Tokyo 2020). Fifteen of the 48 athletes named to the team punched their ticket by winning at the 2024 Bell Canadian Olympic Track and Field Trials.
