Be a part of Red Bull Wings for Life World Run–the world’s largest global run

On Sunday, May 5, runners from all over the world will come together for the 2024 Red Bull Wings for Life World Run, supporting spinal cord research. This unique event, titled the world’s largest global run, stands out for its innovative app-based platform and absence of a fixed location.

What distinguishes this run (from others) is its unique format: there’s no finish line. Instead, participants aim to outrun the virtual Catcher Car that begins pursuing runners 30 minutes after the start. Whether you’re an experienced runner or a novice, you can challenge yourself against the Catcher Car. All registration fees contribute directly to spinal cord research, funding groundbreaking scientific research and clinical trials worldwide.

One individual who’s deeply involved in this event is Nick Riemer, a Canadian freestyle sport YouTuber and outdoor enthusiast. Riemer’s personal connection to spinal cord research stems from a skiing accident that left him with a fractured L5 vertebra. Through recovery, Riemer found solace in filming others skiing and transformed his passion into a successful YouTube channel, amassing more than 250,000 subscribers.

This journey took him worldwide to film athletes he admired. “It’s been inspiring to hear testimonies from other people who have faced spinal issues and overcome setbacks,” says Riemer.

Riemer will participate in the in-person Vancouver Wings for Life World Run on May 5 at 4 a.m. PT at the Seawall, alongside his team, the Rubber Duckies. Their goal is to raise five figures in support of spinal cord research. “What I love about the Red Bull Wings for Life event is the Catcher Car,” says Riemer. “My goal is to stay ahead of it as much as I can.”

If you’re interested in the 2024 Red Bull Wings for Life World Run, download the Wings for Life app from Apple or Google Play stores.
