A very first triple-double by any WNBA rookie finally had the name of Caitlin Clark on Saturday. Helping the Fever end their 9-game winless drought against the Liberty, Clark posted 19 points, dished out 13 assists, and grabbed 12 rebounds in her total 38 minutes. Moreover, she was 7 of 17 from the field and connected on 3 of 12 beyond-the-arc shots, with all of them coming in the opening quarter itself.

The historic moment transpired in the penultimate quarter with 7:07 still remaining with her 10th rebound. On top of that, it was made more memorable by a standing ovation from the 17,274 in attendance at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. “Obviously, it’s really cool,” Clark reflected on her accomplishment post-game. “My teammates have been finishing the ball really, really at a high rate. My assist numbers … that’s because of them.” This exhibition also makes Clark the youngest and the first player to reach such heights in her franchise’s history.

The rookie season just keeps getting better and better for the former Iowa standout. Further, the previous night’s performance put more weight on her contention for this year’s WNBA Rookie Of The Year accolade. How will that trajectory span out for her in the upcoming days? Only time will tell.
