Chef Jose Andres Is Opening a Luxury Hotel in an Iconic Washington, D.C. Neighborhood — and It Has a Members-only Dining Club

Celebrity chef José Andrés has worn practically every hat in the hospitality industry except one: hotelier. However, that will soon change as the José Andrés Group announced plans to open the company’s inaugural hotel, The Bazaar House by José Andrés. Located in Washington, D.C.’s coveted Georgetown neighborhood, this 67-room luxury hotel, slated to open in 2027, will occupy the former Latham Hotel.

This ambitious project will feature multiple food and beverage venues curated by the José Andrés Group, premium event spaces, a dedicated wellness center, and high-end retail offerings. A cornerstone of the hotel will be its private membership, the Bazaar Club, which will offer exclusive benefits and a signature penthouse restaurant with magnificent views of Georgetown. The Bazaar House joins a wave of exclusivity in D.C., as private members’ venue Ned’s Club plans to debut near the White House in January.

While Andrés stepped down as CEO of his namesake group in May, he remains executive chairman and a creative force in the hospitality industry. His group’s impressive portfolio includes 20 brands; 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges; an Emmy-award-winning show; and a New York Times best-selling book. This latest project is a collaboration with Thor Equities, a global developer whose portfolio includes luxury hotel brands, such as the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. For the past seven years, Thor Equities has been navigating through a rigorous approval process for the property, which has been vacant since 2012. 

Andrés, who first arrived in D.C. as a young chef more than 30 years ago, has long championed the city as a prime destination for foodies and restaurateurs. He shared via a press release, “I’m so happy to start a new chapter with The Bazaar House in Georgetown, an amazing opportunity to welcome people to my city in an entirely new way.”
