Running low on your Beautycounter products and looking for the next best clean alternative? Here are some Beautycounter swaps with new-ish clean beauty brands. All links are affiliate links.

Ever since Beautycounter announced its temporarily closure, I’ve been sort of freaking out about my beloved skincare routine. What is a girl to do when she runs out of her Supreme Cream and Overnight Resurfacing Peel!? After all, I’ve been using Beautycounter products consistently for 5+ years — and I know some of you have, too!

Using Beautycounter for almost everything was so simple. Now I’m back to the drawing board to find products that I like and work well.

I have ordered products or am receiving samples from a few brands to start. Here are those brands and why they’re on my short list. I want this to be an authentic exploratory phase much like I did when starting to use Beautycounter, so I’ll be sharing some thoughts on the new options as I try them.

Clean Beauty Brands I’m Trying

Oliveda – A lot of fellow Beautycounter consultants are loving and recommending these European waterless products; I’ve been using them for a week-ish now and LOVE THEM! The products are selling out faster than they can make them because it’s been so popular, so keep checking the website or get on my beauty email list for the first alerts. Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is the olive tree extract elixir that is in every product. It is a bio active liquid that replaces the water in the formulas. All of Oliveda’s formulations are designed to be highly effective, free from additives, and sustainable.

Note many of the Oliveda products have been so popular they sell out like crazy. I have a list of the best in-stock products near the end of this post!

Colleen Rothschild – I tried a few CR products in 2023 and really loved them. You know I’m a scent gal, and the products smell divine! They feel luxurious and high end. While they don’t have as strict high standards for ingredients (particularly fragrance0 as some of the others, they are on the clean side. They do not use a lot of the questionable ingredients, like parabens, sulfates, or formaldehyde in their products.

Crunchi – My friend Anna is a fertility blogger and non-toxic living expert. She’s a part of Beautycounter as well, and so I asked her what the cleanest makeup she recommends is and she recommended Crunchi. If you can get past the name, Crunchi looks to be a really comparable company to Beautycounter. They don’t use synthetic colors and test for heavy metals just like BC did. They make makeup and skincare, but I’m going to be focusing on using them for makeup. I’m so glad to see they have talc-free powders – eyeshadow palettes, powdered bronzer, highlighter, blush, and all the things Beautycounter had discontinued.

Dime – You’ve likely heard of this brand; a lot of their products are EWG verified. They’re a lot more affordable than some of the other lux brands, too. I’m loving the Wonderscreen as a swap for BC’s Dew Skin!

There are SO MANY more, but I’m trying to focus in on these rather than get overwhelmed by the hundreds of brands out there!!

Here are some swaps for Beautycounter products and the equivalents at the above brands.

Countertime

Countermatch

Countercontrol

If you use any of Beautycounter’s Countercontrol products (I personally do not), you might find the Colleen Rothschild Gentle & Clear Skincare Set to be a comparable swap.

Makeup

I still have a lot of BC makeup, so I’m trying not to over-buy in this department.

Dew Skin is my #1 BC product, and I just got the DIME Tinted Glow Wonderscreen. It’s really nice!!!! Has SPF, and the tint is a similar coverage. I think it’s a bit more gel-like whereas the Dew Skin is a bit more of a moisturizer texture.

Some products I’m trying:

  1. Mascara – I bought the Shattered Mascara and it is very similar to Beautycounter’s in terms of the wand and formula. The tube is made of thick glass as part of their commitment to reduce plastics. I actually think it smudges less than BC! I also got the DIME Volume Mascara since I already love their lash boost serum, but I don’t love the wand as much as the Crunchi.
  2. Foundation – The Crunchi Beautifully Flawless Foundation is a bit thicker than BC’s, but the texture, blendability, and coverage is good. If you need a new foundation, give it a try! I ordered the shade 2.5 and it’s very similar to BC. Check out the Crunchi Shade Finder Quiz to match foundation and concealer shades.
  3. Eyeshadow – I am so happy to have learned that Crunchi has talc-free powders! I got this cool tones shadow palette which has a purple, a gray, and a shimmer: Shadow Bar in Bloom
  4. Bronzer – Check out the Solarize Bronzing Duo
  5. Highlighter – They also have a Luminescence® Highlighter for those of you who love a shimmer.

Oliveda In Stock Recommendations

If you took the quiz and what is recommended isn’t in stock, not to worry! Oliveda’s products are all great, and have only slightly differences in what they do so there are plenty of products that will work for everyone! Here’s a list of the recommended best products that are currently in stock!

  • Antioxidant Face Cream (F05) – similar to the BC soft cream, this is a lighter weight cream great for daytime moisturizer. It refreshes and fleshes out tired skin, while preventing drying-out and the penetration of free radicals. It’s also a great price!
  • Regenerative Intense Face Cream (F74) – similar to the BC supreme cream, this is a luxurious thick night cream packed with the olive leaf cell extra the company is famous for. It’s also fragrance free, but I think it smells a bit like honey yogurt (in a good way!) I’ve been using it day and night, so it’s not too think for daytime.
  • Corrective Midnight Elixir (F65) – similar to the BC overnight resurfacing peel, this is an overnight anti-aging product that does many things at once! The Oliveda “Corrective” line is their best anti-aging line.
  • Corrective Vegan Hyaluronic Serum (F86) – similar to the BC radiance serum, this serum is designed to work to make skin look elastic and tighter thanks to its dose of hyaluronic acid.
  • Honey Enzyme Mask (F76) – This is a best seller and similar to the BC AHA mask. This enzymatic peeling mask frees the skin from dead skin cells, refines the pores and leaves the complexion radiant and even. Honey moisturizes the skin and has a soothing effect. It’s also a great price under $55.
  • Arbequina Cleansing Oil (F78) – similar to the BC cleansing oil this takes off both makeup and refreshes with hydroxytyrosol, vitamin E, french lavender, and argan.
