Performance sports technology company Coros has unveiled its fastest-processing watch to date, the Coros Pace Pro, a powerful follow-up to its popular Pace 3 watch. The biggest upgrade in the Pace Pro is that it is now equipped with a stunning 1,500-nit AMOLED display, which is designed for early-morning risers and late-night milers who need a GPS watch to keep pace with their active lifestyle. Let’s get into a few of the groundbreaking features.
A display that shines
The Pace Pro boasts a crystal-clear, 1.3-inch AMOLED screen, which is not only a first for the brand, but also one of the brightest on the market, automatically adjusting to lighting conditions with 1,500-nit brightness. The AMOLED display allows the Pace Pro to showcase full-colour maps and detailed graphics with a quick response rate, thanks to a processor that’s twice as fast as the one in the Pace 3. Zooming in on maps is much faster, rivalling other high-end models.
Battery life and power
The brand is well-known for its long battery life, and the Pace Pro is no exception. It offers up to 20 days in smartwatch mode, 31 hours in GPS mode and 38 hours in dual-frequency GPS mode. For those who prefer the always-on AMOLED display, the battery lasts around six days, depending on usage. Users can adjust their display preferences directly on the watch or through the Coros app. The watch also charges via a USB-C adapter for quick recharges. However, runners tackling ultra-long distances may find the battery not as long as they would like.
Advanced navigation and health tracking
If you’re tired of dealing with glitchy GPS or inaccurate pings in densely-populated areas, the Pace Pro aims to solve that with its offline global topographic maps. There will also be a software update coming in spring 2025, which will support street names for enhanced urban navigation. For trail runners, the Pace Pro also includes “Back to Start” navigation and a breadcrumb trail feature, making it easy to retrace your route if needed.
For health monitoring, Coros has upgraded the Pace Pro’s sensor array with five LEDs and four photodetectors to enhance heart rate and SpO2 (blood oxygen) tracking, ensuring better accuracy during workouts and recovery to maximize your training results.
Additional features
The Pace Pro brings more than just running-focused features to the table; it includes customizable workout options and more than 20 activity-tracking modes. Future software updates will also enable competitor gear tracking, enhancing its versatility.
Designed with comfort in mind, the Pace Pro is available with two band options: a lightweight 37.1-gram nylon band or a 49.1-gram silicone band, ensuring a comfortable fit for all-day wear.
Pricing and availability
The Coros Pace Pro will be available in three colours and offers a robust and feature-rich option for runners looking for top performance in GPS and health tracking. The watch launches worldwide on Oct. 31 for CAD $499.99.
