This high-protein, cottage cheese chocolate mousse is rich and creamy and an ideal treat when chocolate cravings hit. Plus, it’s low in carbs and sugar-free!
This high-protein chocolate mousse with cottage cheese is a deliciously creamy, sweet and satisfying dessert that comes without the guilt! Additionally, it’s low in carbs and calories, sugar-free and keto-friendly.
And, no, you don’t have to like cottage cheese to love this mousse. It’s because it’s sweet, smooth and chocolaty with just a slight tang from the cottage cheese.
We combine whipped cottage cheese with melted, sugar-free chocolate chips for a rich chocolate flavor and sugar-free whipped cream to produce a lighter and airier mousse.
Not only that, it’s made with just 3 ingredients and takes about 5 minutes to make. Of course, you can add a few favorite toppings including fresh berries, sugar-free whipped cream and/or nuts.
A quick and easy healthy treat for chocolate lovers!
Ingredients
Cottage cheese: We use a low-fat cottage cheese (2% milkfat) in this bowl since it slightly increases the protein, and we found little difference in taste between the low- and high-fat cottage cheese when done.
Lily’s sugar-free semi-sweet baking chips: We use Lily’s sugar-free semi-sweet chocolate baking chips in this mousse, but you could also consider Lily’s sugar-free dark chocolate or milk chocolate baking chips.
Sugar-free Whipping Cream: To enhance the flavor and make the mousse lighter, we incorporate zero-sugar whipping cream. We simply use store-bought zero-sugar whipping cream since it’s tasty and low in carbs.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: In a food processor, pulse cottage cheese until smooth.
STEP 2: In a small bowl, melt the sugar-free chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments until they stir to a smooth consistency (about a minute in total heating time).
STEP 3: Add melted chocolate to processor and pulse until thoroughly combined with whipped cottage cheese.
STEP 5: Use a spatula to remove cottage cheese mixture from processor and place into a medium-size bowl. Fold in whipping cream with spatula until well combined.
STEP 5: Spoon into serving dish and add toppings as desired (such as sugar-free whipped cream, fresh berries and/or nuts).
How to Store

WHAT IS CONSIDERED HIGH IN PROTEIN?
We love high-protein meals, snacks and desserts since they help keep you full for longer periods of time. Therefore, you’re less likely to overeat. Wikipedia defines a high-protein diet as more than 20% of calories from protein while Diet Doctor uses 25% go 35% of calories. For more information about a high-protein diet, check out Diet Doctor.
