Since Beautycounter closed its doors in the spring, I’ve been on a quest to find alternative skincare and makeup products that can stand up to my #1 brand that I used and loved for years. I’ll be honest, it’s been kind of fun giving new-t0-me brands a try; the industry has come a long way with delivering safer and high-performing products.
So, once I got over the brand name, Crunchi (eek!), I decided to give the brand a shot; since I am using Oliveda for skincare, I was specifically interested in their makeup and sunscreen as I would need a replacement when my Beautycounter ran out.
The more I researched the brand, the more I learned how it parallels Beautycounter’s top notch standards, from safety to sustainability.
Crunchi, founded by two women, Melanie Petschke and Kelly Weston, was created with a mission to provide high-performance beauty products that are free from harmful chemicals, while also being environmentally conscious.
In this post, I’m sharing more about the brand and what I think of the products I’ve tried (which is mostly makeup so far).
Crunchi’s Philosophy
Crunchi prides itself on transparency, ensuring that every ingredient used in its products is safe for both you and the planet. Crunchi’s commitment to clean beauty is evident in its strict ingredient policy. They avoid over 1,500 potentially harmful ingredients, including parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and phthalates (sound familiar?). And they focus on using certified organic ingredients.
Sustainable Packaging and Ethical Practices
Crunchi is committed to sustainability, and this is reflected in their packaging and practices. The brand uses eco-friendly packaging materials, including glass and paperboard, to reduce plastic waste. They also offer a recycling program where customers can send back their empty containers for proper disposal.
In addition to their eco-friendly initiatives, Crunchi is a cruelty-free brand. They never test their products on animals, and they ensure that their ingredients are sourced ethically and responsibly.
Crunchi Makeup
Crunchi’s makeup line is where clean beauty meets high performance. Each product is carefully formulated to provide flawless coverage, vibrant colors, and long-lasting wear without the use of harmful chemicals. These are the products I’ve tried:
Shattered Mascara
The first product I fell in love with was the mascara! It’s thick enough for my fine lashes to pop and I love the brush. It also doesn’t give me raccoon eyes in the shower like Beautycounter’s did when I took it back off. Whatever water resistance they use, it’s good. I love that it’s EWG Verified and comes in a glass tube that is the first of its kind to be sustainable.
Flawless Foundation
One of Crunchi’s hero products, the Flawless Foundation, is loved for its buildable coverage and natural finish. It’s formulated with non-toxic ingredients like jojoba oil and aloe vera, providing a smooth, even complexion while nourishing your skin. I’m using shade 2.5.
Smart Primer
I haven’t personally tried this primer yet (because I haven’t used up my BC), but I wanted to mention it because it’s a Crunchi bestseller! It minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines while creating a perfect base for your foundation. Plus, it’s packed with skin-loving ingredients like organic aloe and botanical extracts.
My Alibi Liquid Concealer + Eye Primer
The Crunchi concealer is made with superfruits and 100% pure earth pigments to instantly blur and conceal under-eye circles and imperfections.
Solarise Bronzing Duo
Made with 100% pure earth pigments and organic oils, it’s finely milled and blends seamlessly into the skin, providing a radiant finish without any orange undertones. The bronzer is talc-free and made with organic ingredients, ensuring that it’s safe for your skin. Plus, it comes in a recyclable cardboard compact.
Shadow Bar in Bloom
Crunchi’s eyeshadows are highly pigmented and come in a range of beautiful, wearable shades. Whether you’re going for a natural look or something more dramatic, these eyeshadows deliver vibrant color and blend effortlessly. I have the palette in Bloom and love the purple and gray colors.
Hydrogloss Lip Oil
I have to be honest that this isn’t the best tasting lip product on the market – it’s a little metallic? But I love how it feels and it’s what I’ve been putting on at home for a casual lip.
Cheekmate Liquid Blush
I think behind the mascara, this is my second favorite product! I love how easy it is to apply – just dot it across the cheeks and blend in. I prefer it to the compacts that Beautycounter had that you had to warm up with your hand. The shade Guava is perfect for the flushed gym look I love.

Crunchi Skincare
Of the skincare I have tried, the SPF products are great. They are all non-nano mineral zinc based and reef safe. I really love the new Tinted Sunlight! It’s great for a face sunscreen without a white cast and can BE your makeup because it’s tinted!
I’ve also tried the Cleansing Balm and have to admit I liked the BC one a little better. The Crunchi one is EWG Verified though, so if clean is your top priority, this one is the best choice!

Charcoal Facial Bar
If you loved Beautycounter’s charcoal bar, this is a great replacement! Crunchi’s Charcoal Facial Bar is a gentle yet effective cleanser that detoxifies the skin, drawing out impurities with activated charcoal. It’s perfect for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and leaves your face feeling clean without stripping away natural oils.
I AM Renewed Charcoal Mask
Another great Beautycounter replacement for those who loved the charcoal mask! This one is very comparable with activated bamboo charcoal and two types of clays—Moroccan lava and kaolin—for the perfect deep pore detox, for those concerned with congestion, oily skin, and dullness.
I AM Polished Exfoliator
Similar to the AHA mask by BC, this mask is a chemical and physical exfoliator with a 10% blend of glycolic, lactic, & fruit acids. Use it as a scrub or a mask to gently resurface and minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines, & wrinkles.
Daylight Facial Cream
A lightweight, hydrating moisturizer that is EWG Verified, this Daylight Facial Cream is infused with organic coconut oil, hyaluronic acid, and chamomile. It provides long-lasting moisture without feeling heavy or greasy, making it an excellent choice for daily use.
Nightlight® Advanced Facial Cream
My mom bought this cream! It smells lightly of lavender and had a very easy-to-rub in texture when I used it this summer. With ingredients like organic shea butter, rosehip oil, and vitamin C, Nightlight Facial Cream helps to repair and restore your skin’s natural radiance overnight.
If you loved BC’s hydrating face oils, this one is a lightweight facial oil powered by clinically proven plant actives rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants to visibly balance and renew oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin. Great to layer over your night cream.
I AM Bright Vitamin C Serum
This protective, skin-brightening serum is made with potent and stable vitamin C and powerful antioxidants. It is comparable to Beautycounter’s with ultra stable vitamin C. It works to protect the skin from environmental stressors, blue-light damage, & premature aging. It’s also EWG Verified.
