Why you’ll love this recipe

This Sugar-free Limeade Recipe is simply the best out there, in my opinion. You only need 3 ingredients (really two, since water doesn’t really count), is a breeze to make, and uses only natural sweeteners.

I’m also sharing a whole lime limeade (aka blender limeade) option that takes the nutrition up a notch.

Ingredients Used

  • water
  • lime juice – fresh is best, but bottled lime juice will work as well.
  • sweetener of choice – I prefer using powdered stevia extract for this recipe, but you can also use liquid stevia or plain powdered monk fruit, but you could also use xylitol, erythritol, allulose, or any sweetener you like. Use honey or maple syrup for a non low-carb option.
  • salt – I always add a dash of salt to sweet recipes for that extra something
  • garnishes (optional) – lime slice or wedge, lemon and lime slices, fresh mint, fresh basil, sliced or whole strawberries, whole blueberries or raspberries

Recipe Tips and Substitutions

  • Sweetener: If you use something besides stevia extract powder, liquid stevia, monk fruit extract, or honey (for a non-keto option) you’ll want to make sure to powder the sweetener. Using a previously made Keto Powdered Sugar will work as well but you’ll want to adjust for sweetness.
  • Lime Size: the approximation for the number of limes you’ll need is based on an average lime. If using a smaller lime and especially key limes, you’ll of course need to use more.

Recipe Variations

This keto limeade recipe is so versatile, you can easily change it up in so many ways. To make any of the following, blend 3/4 cup of fruit and add to the limeade. If making the blender limeade version, simply add the additional fruit to the blender. Here are some great options to try!

Of course some of these will add quite a few carbs, so just keep that in mind if you need to stick to a keto diet plan. While most recipes online say to add juice, adding the whole fruit is a much healthier option. Try:

  • Cherries for Sugar-free Cherry Limeade
  • Strawberries for Sugar-free Strawberry Limeade
  • Raspberries for Sugar-free Raspberry Limeade
  • Blueberries for Sugar-free Blueberry Limeade
  • Orange for a citrusy Sugar-free Orange Limeade

For a lemon-limeade, simply use half lemon juice and half lime juice.

Whole Lime Limeade / Blender Limeade Version

The most blender limeade recipes out there are Brazilian and include sweetened condensed milk, but this easy homemade limeade is much lighter and much more likely to quench your thirst.

Instead of using lime juice, simply put the whole (washed) lime in a blender along with the other ingredients, and blend. You can strain out the pulp, or some of it, if you’d like. The result is a limeade that’s full of all the nourishing goodness of the entire lime. Of course for this version, you’ll want to use organic limes to avoid consuming pesticides.

Side note: the photos for this post were shot using this version.

Other Healthy Keto Beverage Recipes

In addition to this skinny limeade, here are some other low carb / keto beverages to wet your whistle.

  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon stevia extract (start with 1/4 and adjust taste as needed)
  • 1/3 cup lime juice (about the juice from 3 limes)
  • 1 dash sea salt
  • Powder the sweetener, if necessary/

  • Squeeze the limes if using fresh limes.

  • Pour the juice into a large pitcher along with the water, sweetener, and salt.

  • Adjust the sweetness level if needed.

  • Stir to combine, making sure to dissolve the sweetener.

  • Add ice cubes or chill the limeade in the fridge, or both.
