Essex fundraiser a huge success

An Essex football tournament to raise money for Mind saw MAN v FAT players play their part in a memorable day in January.

The event was organised by MAN v FAT Southend player Alex Putt and saw representatives from the Southend club, as well as MAN v FAT Clacton, head to Great Notley to take on other teams keen to support male mental health.

And it was a roaring success, with the event raising in excess of £4,000 for the charity.

Alex told us: “This was a very important event for me, as it enabled me to raise money for a great cause whilst honouring a dear friend of mine. Football has been a huge release for me and MAN v FAT allowed me to access sport again when moving to a new area.

“Sometimes, however, football is not enough. With the amount we have raised, this will enable Mind to provide in the region of about 75 counselling sessions. Having struggled myself with mental health in the past, I know how much these counselling sessions can help. This will allow access to the service to those who are not in a position to fund them for themselves.”

You can read more about Mind’s services on their website, whilst MAN v FAT members are reminded that they get access to the incredible MAN v FAT x JAAQ platform as part of their membership.
